For all the reviewers who "haven't had a chance to use these yet but they look like they will work!" Please don't review a FISH TRAP until you have TRAPPED A FISH. I've used these plenty of times and MOST have worked however there are quality control issues and some don't have the best spring/reel action. Perhaps this can be solved by putting your own line on them. Overall you can't beat the ability to catch fish while you do other things around camp which is just what these traps do. We've had many river trout dinners thanks to these and at just a few dollars each they are well worth the price. I just wish there was a more expensive high quality version. These usually don't last which is why I buy a few more every year!

Slight learning curve

These things work great but ‘easy to use’ is a very subjective phrase. They are very easy to bait up and toss in the water but, depending on the fish you’re trying to catch, it’s very tricky to set the ‘trigger’. A trout or hungry bass will hit hard enough to set the trap, but a carp or catfish will tease the bait right off the hook without the slightest vibration. It’s up to you to figure this out. I’ve had my bait stolen many times before figuring how to set the ‘trigger’ correctly. These things aren’t foolproof but they work. I definitely recommend this product but take time to figure them out before tossing them aside
