Operating directly under the National Command Authority, a relatively unknown entity of handpicked warriors are called on when the mission must not fail. They are the Tier 1 Operators. Over 2 million Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines wear the uniform. Of those, approximately 50 thousand fall under the direct control of the Special Operations Command. The Tier 1 Operator functions on a plane of existence above and beyond even the most highly trained Special Operations Forces. Their exact numbers, while classified, hover in the low hundreds. They are living, breathing, precision instruments of war. They are experts in the application of violence. The new Medal of Honor is inspired by and has been developed with Tier 1 Operators from this elite community. Players will step into the boots of these warriors and apply their unique skill sets to a new enemy in the most unforgiving and hostile battlefield conditions of present day Afghanistan.

Let me just start by saying I cannot agree with the other reviews I have seen on here either rating this 5 stars (which is something I reserve for works of art that flat out blew me away) or 1 star (which, again, I only tend to use in reference to complete and utter contemptible garbage). That seems to be the issue here, this game is a perfect dichotomy. It is entertaining, realistic, fast-paced and generally a very well produced game...the problems lie in the limitations on that quality. I spent over 60 dollars to purchase this and managed to blow through the single player campaign on hard mode in about 3 or 4 hours and that simply is way, way too little content for that price range. In comparison I spent less money on something like Dragon Age and (with all of the DLC along with the game) spent over 90 hours playing through the campaign first time through, to say nothing of the hundreds of hours I replayed the game using different character sexes and classes.

The place this game does shine however is the extremely entertaining multiplayer mode. The almost RPG-style level system, and the general (though not complete) lack of hackers ruining the experience for those of us looking to play a fair, balanced and fun game makes this one of the few games I have spent many times more hours playing multiplayer than the single player campaign. While I would like to see a bit more variation, this game is really all about the multiplayer. It seems very much as though this was produced AS a multiplayer game which they then used as a framework for building a short single player campaign around. The main downside to the multiplayer mode is the obvious occasional mean-spirited experienced player (which is universal for multiplayer games) bashing anyone who happens to be a noob.

Finally, a fps game which has a plot that actually makes sense, doing things that actually happen, with characteristics which are believable. If you liked CoD 4 MW but thought 'gee some of this is a bit over the top and this plot is pretty lame, but I like the modern feel' then this game is for you. If you're like me, bought MW2 played it and said 'why bother with a plot at all, this is an unrealistic shooting gallery' then this game is for you.

I can't comment on on-line play since I don't do it at all. The campaign is about 3 hours shorter than MOH: Airborne covering 6 hours or so over 8 missions. Realism is the star of the game. Fatal funnels (doorways, hallways) are deadly. Cover gets shot away. Opfor take several M4 hits at range before dying. Targets are hard to pick out of the brown hillside. Some of the critical reviews said that some scenarios were lifted from CoD, which may be true, but at least in MOH 2010 they're done well (CoD sniper mission where 2 guys take out a company of infantry with sniper rifles while being wounded and pinned while helicopters fast rope a QRF to kill you). In MOH 2010 you kill the targets from a distance, and get mortared and hit by a platoon who spotted your muzzle flashes.

Yes, there are a couple of minor event glitches. Learn them & continue. Yes, enemies spawn. This is to get the message across that only through aggressive assault can you take a position. If you stay shooting the spawns you'll run out of ammo & get pinned down. Yes, certain targets need to be lased and destroyed by fast air. Hate to tell you, but you can't take out a DShk 12.7mm gun position by yourself, in spite of what you saw John Rambo do.

Is it perfect? No. More campaign add ons would be great. But it is the most realistic fps I've ever played and all the negative reviews don't do the product credit. I won't play the CoD series anymore since it looks and feels like a cheap dime store novel.

A joy to play. Immersive and intense. One scene flows into another with superb action graphics every stop of the game. Excellent game in a long series.
