This unit leaves small semi circle scrathes on my dvd's and cd's.
I am trying to experiment with it cause there is not much out there. But looks like it will go back to where it came from.
I have owned a discwasher cdstealth cleaner for years. Nobody sells replacement pads for it, otherwise I would still be using it... Even though it was a pain to operate.
The Memorex unit would be the ultimate system. However there is no sense speaking of its ease of use if it damages your collection. SHAME on Memorex.
-You still need to remove excess moisture with a soft dry cloth;
-The repair kit will ONLY work with "hairpin" type scratches;if it's too deep,it won't work!So,limited efficiency!But(important),it seems to be safe to use on Blu-Ray discs as well.
-Don't use the email adress provided with the instructions to order replacement parts or refill kits;it's an american one...and won' deliver!
-Product not available in any retail store (Ottawa-Gatineau area)
I just hope the power pack and the electric motor will last!NOTE:For home use only!I do not recommend this product to be used at your video rental store!
I can confirm this product leaves semi-circle scratches on whatever cd/dvd you try to clean with it. However they are very very thin and I don't think it'll affect readability of the disc.
It also leaves a small circular residue on the back of the disc which can be cleaned (who cares about the back though?).
I'd rate it's scratch removal at mediocre. It did seem to get rid of all of the small scratches on the disk.. the deep scratches though seem to only have been halfed in depth after 3 cycles of the repair process.
My guess is if you have deep scratches you'd be better off manually buffing the disc.
Good overall for my purposes.
