Alex Cross has been one of my favorite characters for many years. He's gotten out from many bad situations by the skin of his teeth.

First of all, the product details is wrong... This book description says 353 pages but it is actually 101. It's a short novel packed with gripping suspense and some hair-raising action. It's Christmas and as we all know, Alex has high family values. The kids, Bree and Nana is his life. He gets called out to a hostage situation that turns deadly and during this time Alex has to make some serious decisions that affect his whole family, especially at Christmas.

This is a most memorable story but, the price is ridiculous.

Book 19, in the Alex Cross series

This is a typical Alex Cross story, a direct sequel to “Kill Alex Cross”, with a similar plot-featuring Hala from the previous installment but does feature new characters, some new elements and a few other story lines. It is jammed packed with action as we see Alex being pulled out of the family Christmas celebrations and rush on scenes and confront the unthinkable.

Following are two heart-pounding threads: first, Alex is forced to make a decision when a father is threatening to murder his children and ex-wife. Whatever the decision, the results could end as many lives as it saves, that including his own. Second: a cat and mouse game with Jihadists on a mission to do as much harm as possible. Union Station seems to be Hala and her team’s primary target….Alex is on speed dial with the FBI and evidently is the in-between guy….

This novel is the usual James Patterson, short chapters, sharp narrative, intense actions and likeable characters. This is good entertainment easily read in a few hours. It may have Christmas as a backdrop but it is a thriller for all times. It has a wonderful contrast between the grim reality of terrorism and the lovely close relationship of the Cross’s family.

Good read to pass time.

The only good thing about this book is that I got through it so quickly and didn't waste more than a few hours reading it. I wish I was able to stop reading a poorly written book, but I never seem able to, no matter how bad it is. Kind of like the "watching a car wreck" concept I guess. I feel sad for those who think this book (or any others in the series) are well written. I feel stupid that I fell for the 4 and 5 star reviews! I highly doubt that this review will be posted. And more poor suckers just like me will waste their money, and brain cells, on this book.

I am a big Alex Cross fan and tend to enjoy any book that show cases Alex Cross and family. It was somewhat shorter than most of the Alex Cross books but it was still interesting. I read it cover to cover in a few hours.
