Also surprising, the wired version is slightly smaller than the wireless version which was already too small for "normal" sized hands, so expect some hand cramping after extended use unless you have tiny hands. Also, the upper and lower halves are slightly different sizes making the seam between the two parts noticeable, but not so much as to be uncomfortable.
Overall, it's a decent controller, and worth the extra money you'd save buying a cheap third-party controller; but don't pay full-price for it -- wait for a sale.
Being a long time PC/Playstation guy, I'll be the first to admit, I was hesitant in purchasing an X-box Controller. However, having heard how easily they work on Windows PC's, I decided to give it a shot. They are literally plug and play. Plug in the adapter, turn on the controller, Windows performs the auto installation, and away you go to gaming. No messing around with drivers or trying to get it to recognize. Plus, it's wireless. Honestly, who uses a cord nowadays? Just lean back and whoop some booty.
Works great for anything from Dark Souls to Binding of Isaac. The joysticks are as responsive as any console controller I've ever used. In addition, I've never had a game not recognize the controller (at least games that are supposed to). The battery life is stellar, too. I go ~2 months before I have to replace mine, usually. If you're in the market for batteries, the Amazon rechargables are excellent: https://www.amazon.ca/AmazonBasics-High-Capacity-Pre-Charged-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00HZV9WTM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1459457087&sr=8-2&keywords=double+a+batteries. I bought this very pack and have been impressed with how long they keep their charge, even when I'm not using the controller.
My one "con" is that the D-pad developed a squeak after a couple of months. It's not bad enough to return it, as I tend not to prioritize the D-pad, but other people have noted the same problem. Because of this, I give it a 4 stars, but it's really like a 4.75.
The only upside to using these controllers with a USB cable (was not possible at all with the 360 controllers) is that they can operate on USB power only with no batteries required. The downsides are all obvious...cables cables everywhere.
I never had any issues with the old wireless adapter, but it was a bizarre design where it was placed on the end of a long cord even though you hardly ever needed to actually look or touch it. The new design of being a dongle that plugs directly into a USB port and pretty much doesn't get touched or seen again (if at the back of a desktop PC) is better in my opinion. It's easier to move around from PC to PC if you have multiple you game on and just less wires to create nests with.
Getting it to work couldn't have been any easier and was no different than before. Just plug the adapter in and everything was recognized by my PCs and we were off to the races. Haven't had any connectivity issues but have not tested for extreme range beyond what would be practical anyway.
I have no problem recommending this combination as a gamepad solution to PC games (as still, the vast majority of games will directly detect an xbox 360/one controller and give you proper button mappings and on screen prompts without any mucking around).
Under Windows 10, the controller is detected automatically and the drivers are installed also automatically. If the game being played can use an XBox controller this should work. I know that all Batman Arkham games (Asylum, City, Origins and Arkham Knight) support this device, as I have played them all. The controller has a rumble feature so that you can really feel the game. It makes it a lot more painful when you die in the game! As the picture suggests, this is the USB version and not the wireless version. I should mention that this is the XBox One controller not the XBox 360 controller, although they are basically identical.

Just made the switch from a ps4 controller which had to be wired. Great controller, the bumpers feel a bit cheap, but they work well either way. Read morePublished 1 day ago by Ryan smith
