If you're in the market for a PC controller, you can happily buy this one. I've been using it without issue since Jan. 2014. Still works like new.

Being a long time PC/Playstation guy, I'll be the first to admit, I was hesitant in purchasing an X-box Controller. However, having heard how easily they work on Windows PC's, I decided to give it a shot. They are literally plug and play. Plug in the adapter, turn on the controller, Windows performs the auto installation, and away you go to gaming. No messing around with drivers or trying to get it to recognize. Plus, it's wireless. Honestly, who uses a cord nowadays? Just lean back and whoop some booty.

Works great for anything from Dark Souls to Binding of Isaac. The joysticks are as responsive as any console controller I've ever used. In addition, I've never had a game not recognize the controller (at least games that are supposed to). The battery life is stellar, too. I go ~2 months before I have to replace mine, usually. If you're in the market for batteries, the Amazon rechargables are excellent: https://www.amazon.ca/AmazonBasics-High-Capacity-Pre-Charged-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00HZV9WTM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1459457087&sr=8-2&keywords=double+a+batteries. I bought this very pack and have been impressed with how long they keep their charge, even when I'm not using the controller.

My one "con" is that the D-pad developed a squeak after a couple of months. It's not bad enough to return it, as I tend not to prioritize the D-pad, but other people have noted the same problem. Because of this, I give it a 4 stars, but it's really like a 4.75.

Once you plug it in and install the included software, it's automatically recognized by any controller-using PC game. Buttons, triggers, and control sticks are responsive and have a good feel to them, albeit slightly "softer" than I'd prefer. The D-pad isn't great, but it works for the limited amount of times you'll likely use it. Surprisingly, the vibration is just as weak as the wireless version -- much weaker than the Xbox One Elite for example (which costs $135 more). The vibration is so weak that you probably won't notice it during gameplay unless you make a special effort to feel for it which may be a problem playing certain games. Unfortunately, the vibration can only be turned on and off, not increased, with the included software and there doesn't appear to be any third-party software to turn it up.

Also surprising, the wired version is slightly smaller than the wireless version which was already too small for "normal" sized hands, so expect some hand cramping after extended use unless you have tiny hands. Also, the upper and lower halves are slightly different sizes making the seam between the two parts noticeable, but not so much as to be uncomfortable.

Overall, it's a decent controller, and worth the extra money you'd save buying a cheap third-party controller; but don't pay full-price for it -- wait for a sale.

Style Name: XBOX One Windows Controller + Adapter Verified Purchase
I have way too many Xbox controllers around the house considering I've never owned an Xbox of any sort. I have multiple Xbox 360 controllers and the wireless adapter for PC that was released for those quite a long time ago, and already own a few Xbox One controllers which prior to buying this I had to use with long USB cables to connect to my PCs.

The only upside to using these controllers with a USB cable (was not possible at all with the 360 controllers) is that they can operate on USB power only with no batteries required. The downsides are all obvious...cables cables everywhere.

I never had any issues with the old wireless adapter, but it was a bizarre design where it was placed on the end of a long cord even though you hardly ever needed to actually look or touch it. The new design of being a dongle that plugs directly into a USB port and pretty much doesn't get touched or seen again (if at the back of a desktop PC) is better in my opinion. It's easier to move around from PC to PC if you have multiple you game on and just less wires to create nests with.

Getting it to work couldn't have been any easier and was no different than before. Just plug the adapter in and everything was recognized by my PCs and we were off to the races. Haven't had any connectivity issues but have not tested for extreme range beyond what would be practical anyway.

I have no problem recommending this combination as a gamepad solution to PC games (as still, the vast majority of games will directly detect an xbox 360/one controller and give you proper button mappings and on screen prompts without any mucking around).

This controller works perfectly. Plug and play right out of the box. Running windows 10 but I know this works for other versions of windows as well. In stores this is $50 but online for just under $30. Bought an extra just in case I needed and I'm glad I did. With the wire version you don't have to worry about supplying batteries. The cord is plenty long but you can use an extension if needed though I can't see a need for that with how long it already is.

The controller came on time and works just like the ones that come with the console. I originally bought this so it would be easier to play some PC games but I used it with my Xbox 360 more. The controller worked on my Alienware 15 perfectly the controller came with a disc that can install the hardware for the controller but my alienware doesn't have a CD drive so I just plugged it into the USB port and it automatically installed the drivers. I launched need for speed and the controller worked perfectly.
