This is one of the standard books that will be held as a reference for many generations to come, its directed towards graduate students, yet it starts from the basics, such as a review of Maxwell equations, transmission line theory, etc...
Im currently studying a master's degree in rf design, and all my teachers love and praise this book, and I can understand why, the writting style is clear, the content is specialized and the author covers many different applications of microwave engineering all the way from materials to communications circuits. The chapters on transmission lines are great, this is probably the best book I've read regarding waveguides.
The price of the hardcover book seems to be very high, again it looks like the editor is taking advantage by overpricing this book, however like I said, I believe it is so good that its worth getting the hardcover edition and keeping it for years to come. You can of course buy the international edition of this book, which has the same content and its just a fraction of its price.
