This review is a long time coming - I actually read the book several months ago and am STILL thinking about it.

Overall reading experience/ content:
What's so fun about Haigwood's books is they stay with you - I still find myself drifting back to the island (See her Eternal Island series) and also drifting periodically into Montgomery and thinking about some of these characters.
She has a way of designing characters that stay with you.

I read Accepting the Moon last year and absolutely loved it - couldn't put it down. So naturally I was left wanting more and thrilled when Haigwood released this brilliant follow up! Mena is a brilliantly designed character, consistent, despite the fact that she's sharing herself with her wolf for most of this. Watching her struggle to find herself and make peace with her wolf is enlightening and as they fight over the different men they love - two of them for Mena - it's all so wonderfully suspenseful and full of indecisiveness. I'm a fan of Phoenix. Ace is pig-headed and immature BUT I understand the bond Mena feels with him. It's all so well thought out that it almost seems natural - as if she's merely telling us a true story.

Continuity -
This is great, I didn't find any discrepancies.
Even with the two authors - they clearly work well together. (By the way, you cannot go wrong with either of them!)

Not a lot of errors found - seems professionally edited.

Formatting -
The formatting is actually really gorgeous , as always with Haigwood's books.
The whole book is a beautiful work of art, presentation-wise.

Cover -
Looks to be professionally done, well designed and it's pretty and relevant.

Overall 4.5 out of 5 stars.
It isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn close.

A smooth continuation of the prequel, Midnight Moonrising is her best work yet. Mena finds she must negotiate for control of her own body with the wolf that lives within her. She also learns someone within her pack has betrayed her. The question though, is whether at least one of the betrayers has stayed behind to work against her from within.

Her wolf has taken an almost immediate interest in the police detective investigating the death of her husband. Mena doesn't share her interest. In fact, she'd much rather be making the with Phoenix, master of the local vampire clan. Mena wants to change the rules that werewolves and vampires have lived by since they were created. Not everyone is on board with this.

Haigwood has brought a new twist to the werewolf genre. A new shifter must name their wolf within of being bitten or their wolf inside would begin to take over. Mena just knows her wolf is hiding something, but what is the one thing she won't share. There's more, but that would just spoil the fun if I gave it away here. Needless to say, from the moment Mena learns this, the tension just ramps up and time is running out.

Haigwood has once again delivered a beautifully executed story. Her characters continue to develop both in the history each has and their dreams going forward. Once again, there's everything you've come to expect in any story with her name on the cover.

I received the book late Monday evening and read it until I left work. Got home, read until I couldn't see straight (about 1:30am). Got up yesterday morning and finished the book. Yeah, it was that good. I had to sit back and absorb what I'd read for a bit before I could comment on it.

So what do I think? Impeccably written. Beautiful editing.

This was a really loooonnnngggg novel.
After reading so many short one it was hard to read these more than Sixty Two chapters.
I'm counting on you to fall in love with
Mena, as I have. This is one strong and powerful women.
Mena Hoke buried her husband of twelve years, Marc and realized she didn't know him at all, didn't know his secrets. Marc was a werewolf and an Alpha! Because Chris bit her she became a werewolf and then Mena killed Marc now she's the Alpha. Alpha to a Pack of werewolves Mena didn't even know existed let alone be there alpha in fact what does an alpha do?
To Mena ,Phoenix, The Vampire King of Montgomery is starting to rub off on her and slowly she's falling in love with him.
But then there is Alex Rhodes the detective who is trying to solve Marc's murder. Plus then we have Ace, Alpha to the Pride, yep all these men want something to do with Mena. Who will she pick? I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.
