This incredibly well-written memoir of Kaur's experiences as a young, Sikh woman growing up in a North American society take its readers on a journey through the celebrations of being human when it comes to love and family. However, Kaur has also (and unfortunately) experienced many things such as rape, sexism, and racism that are often treated as taboo and swept under colloquial rugs. This book hopes to serve as a voice for the voiceless as they find the courage and strength to overcome the repulsive acts of violence that victimizes women all too much.
This book is a keeper, right in my growing collection for myself to reread and my future ones to read.
