From Publishers Weekly
This idea-rich, relentlessly upbeat manual proffers graphic images as an aid to unlock creative thinking or clarify emotions. Drawing loosely on brain research, learning theory and information science, English business consultant/TV personality Tony Buzan (Use Both Sides of Your Brain) and his brother Barry, a professor of international studies, first outline "radiant thinking," a method designed to enhance one's associative, nonlinear thought processes. Next they explain how to create "mind maps"-colorful, structured, drawings, cartoonish or complex-as a tool to overcome mental blocks, organize ideas, brainstorm, strengthen one's memory and imagination, and make meetings more productive. Despite its inflated claims and cluttered presentation, this unusual how-to, replete with exercises, quizzes, dramatic color photos of patterns in nature, and sample mind maps, will challenge and stimulate the open-minded.

I found this an interesting and in-depth book about Mind Mapping. However, I don't see that the Mind Mapping technique is practical for every situation the author seems to think it is. For example, included in the book is a sheet taken from the author's day planner; he's drawn the day, coloring blocks of times, drawing little planes during times he's flying, drawing dolphins, little men, etc., using various colored pens and highlighters, outlining and doodling. Who on earth has the time for all of this? And what happens when something unexpected happens and you need to rearrange your schedule?
I purchased this book mostly because I am interested in using the Mind Mapping technique to aid in college; however, it's the same issue as above - who has the time to draw detailed, multicolored, 3-D pictures?
The author repeatedly mentions the so-called great minds of the past, and includes samples from their notes. However, on reviewing the samples, few to none of them appear to resemble the Mind Map techniques Tony uses; their notes are more traditional notes with interspersed pictures and symbols. This would seem more reasonable for notetaking, whereas I can see that Mind Mapping in greater detail would be helpful for other things, such as preparing a speech, brainstorming to write a novel or paper, brainstorming with a group in a work environment, mapping goals, and so on.
I think this is a good overview of the possibilities of Mind Mapping, but that it will be best used if you adapt it to your needs rather than rigidly trying to use the techniques exactly as the author lays them out.
I must admit, I find mind maps fascinating and very useful, but this book was kind of a waste. Well, it is a waste because the points are hasshed and rehashed time and time again with no real insight offered into the technique.
For those who have not been exposed to Mind Maps, Mr. Buzans other books are more help ful. For those who have been exposed to Mind Maps, this book is a disappointment. I would hope that mind maps and radiant think would be capable of inspiring the author to great depths and heights.
God,I never came accross such a horrible book in my entire life. What a Disaster?I snoozed while reading It.It was Boring.
Though I find ideas presented hear very intresting. They are very useful.
But author didnt presented them very well.
Mind Mapping technique is revolution. But author was more itrestwed in selling his pads,Videos & other books in the series.
