About the Author
Daniel J. Siegel, M.D., is clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, the founding co-director of the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center, and executive director of the Mindsight Institute. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Siegel is the author of several books, including the New York Times bestsellers Brainstorm, Mind, and, with Tina Payne Bryson, The Whole-Brain Child and No-Drama Discipline. He is also the author of the bestsellers Mindsight and, with Mary Hartzell, Parenting from the Inside Out. I'm about halfway done this book, and have several other books from Siegel. I do agree with the premise of being mindful of how our past shapes our present reality. A caution to readers who don't have a psychology etc background is to not get bogged down in the scientific aspects of what Siegel says. There are enough stories from Siegel's work with patients that make most of what he is saying fairly clear.
One Survivor's Guide for Beating Depression and Thriving Thereafter: Simple, Practical, Step-by-Step Remedies for the Illness of Depression
It's not an easy read, but I'll be able to make use of what I understood.
