About the Author

Dana Shultz is the recipe developer and co-author of Minimalist Baker, which she founded with her husband, John, in 2012. Dana creates the recipes, the photographs, and the blog content, while John designs, codes, develops products, and plays visionary. The couple is situated in Portland, Oregon, where they indulge in all the craft coffee, wine, and food they can get their hands on.

My daughter has gone to more of a plant based diet, so I decided to make a few recipes I found on blogs and around the net... and after receiving thumbs up all around from the family I decided to give it a real shot and bought 5 different vegan cookbooks including this one.... this is now my "Go To" book. In the matter of 2 weeks, I have lost 10lbs without increasing activities... a healthy side effect. We are always stuffed when we move from the table.

I have made the Jackfruit Pulled Pork with the BBQ Sauce, along with her 7 ingredient Cheesecake Tarts (pictures provided) and that clinched it for us, everyone loved it!

What I really love about this book is the information with the recipes, she has a section at the front that has your "go to" items, like Egg Substitute, Vegan Parmesan Cheese and move!! And then at the back, she gives you a section with all the recipes broken down into courses or meals. And she still provided a index by word.

This book is a total win win and it has been very simple to follow the recipes and make them, especially when you are new to the Vegan way of life. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Everything I have cooked from this book has been a hit, even among my meat-eating husband. I cook recipes from this book several times a week. I love that there are no unusual ingredients that require trips to speciality shops. One of my faves is the “Thai Baked Sweet Potatoes”. Easy, simple and delicious!
