Jeffrey Hayzlett tells it like it is and also has been there, done it and bought the t-shirt. What I really enjoyed about this book was that anything he recommends can be applied to your small business or as a leader in a large corporation.

Originally from American cowboy country and successful entrepreneur with his own businesses, Jeffrey applies those lessons of hard work and street smarts to the rapidly changing face of marketing, advertising and branding today. He has not been caught up in the 'social media' is the answer to everything in terms of engaging and selling to customers - yes it is a very useful and exciting tool, but it's just another option - he is still a huge advocate of the benefits of targetted direct mail and print.

In fact while many people might know him from the Celebrity Apprentice or a red carpet appearance or two, my interactions with him have been via social media, where is is reputed to be one of the top 10 C-level tweeters. He was responsive, engaging and enetertaining and he walked the talk, resulting in my decision to make a purchase from his company. An almost larger than life character, but authentic and honest, he is the real deal and a stronger personal brand for it.

A good read, some great enetertaining stories and quotes, with real life examples and solutions, this book should certainly be on the shelf of any good marketing person and certainly one for the small business owner to heed.

Just my toonies worth.

HASH(0xa2bcc1d4) out of 5 stars Finally a book with REAL answers! Sept. 7 2012
By Meaghan Edelstein - Published on
Format: Hardcover
There are a lot of books out there claiming to provide all the answers but until The Mirror Test none could deliver on their promises. Jeffrey Hayzlett provides some hard to face truths in The Mirror Test. At times the book can make you feel uncomfortable because Hayzlett tells it how like it is and sometimes the truth can hurt. Reading this book you must have an open mind and be able to truly look at yourself, your business and the decisions you've made. If you're open to seeing the truth and taking real action this book can truly change your business and give it new life.

This is a MUST read book!

A solid review of business from an entrepreneurial perspective. I have heard Jeff at a National Speakers Association workshop. The book is like him - down to earth, folksy, and practical.

HASH(0xa2bcc504) out of 5 stars The Mirror Test Jan. 31 2013
By David Horsager - Published on
Format: Paperback
In The Mirror Test, Jeff Hayzlett shares valuable insights into the world of entrepreneurship. He helps us ask important questions about leadership, sales and marketing that are foundational to running your own business. In the noisy world of the 21st century, Hayzlett demonstrates how to connect with customers and make yourself and your products/services relevant to them at the right time (If you ever want a few minutes with Jeff, at least bring him a diet Mountain Dew!) Mixed along with these insights are fun stories of Jeff's personal success and failure in business that will help bring practical advice to see if your business is really breathing.

HASH(0xa2bcca20) out of 5 stars Well worth reading Jan. 30 2013

Format: Paperback
If you want a practical approach for taking your business to the next level, this should be on your reading list. I find that in the majority of cases, I tend to put down business books when I'm only a third of the way through. That wasn't the case with The Mirror Test and the reason is both the writing style and quality of content. It's not just a re-hash of materials we've heard dozens of times before, but rather unique insights that are well worth thinking long and hard about. It's a must read for anyone who's serious about leading their business.-Mark Satterfield

HASH(0xa2bcca38) out of 5 stars Well worth the read! Feb. 1 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format: Paperback
If you've ever heard Jeff speak, you'll immediately recognize his voice in this book - he's passionate, and surprisingly humble despite his brilliant CV. The other thing you hear when you listen to Jeff is that he genuinely believes in the power and importance of mentoring -- and that's the model he follows. He doesn't want to tell you what to do, but instead focuses on showing you what's important and how to address it successfully, so that you can do it again and again in the future ... without him.

Well worth the read!
