4.0 out of 5 stars A Diamond for the U2 Collector Jan. 19 2001
By Richard R. Johnson - Published on
The Passengers project left many U2 fans wondering where the band was heading. With its experimentation and odd samplings, the Passengers cd left those who wanted "Mysterious Ways" and "I Will Follow" scratching their heads and covering their ears.
This cd single will appeal to all U2 fans. Miss Sarajevo is the most accessible of the Passengers tracks, and is indeed a beautifully written and performed pop song of genuine lyrical substance. Any fan of U2's familiar hits will love this song. I would go so far as to predict that had it been released as a U2 single, the song would have been a smash hit.
The version of "One" is majestic, though perhaps overly so, yet stripped-down at the same time. While not the quintessential version (I would give that title to the live version on the Tibetan Freedom Concert cd), it is a significant and noteworthy departure from the studio recording.
"Bottoms" features sounds that should be familiar to any fan of Achtung Baby. Meanwhile, "Viva Davidoff" will probably be the track that non-Passengers fans will skip.

5.0 out of 5 stars U2 does it again, but this time under a different name. July 21 1998

It doesn't look like U2, but it sure has all the sounds that made this band one of the greatest of the second half of the century. With the Miss Sarajevo track that can be found on the Passengers CD comes a live version of One performed in Sarajevo. This live track has a distinct sound because it is Bono coupled with Craig Armstrong's Orchestra. A sweet sound and a fresh version of this U2 classic. There are also two tracks on this single that were only released in Japan. One of them sounds a lot like U2's Even Better Than the Real Thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it for "One" live Dec 23 1998

If you are a big U2 fan, get this CD for the live version of One. It's done with an string section, and it sounds beautiful. Although it's difficult to believe, this version sounds better than the one on Achtung Baby. The last two songs are instumental and might not be liked by someone who hated the full Passengers album, but the single gets five stars solely for One.

5.0 out of 5 stars that's a tragedy March 15 1999

This thing made me realise that humans will never be fed up with blood. The war destroys everyone, without choosing. You may be a drunkard, a child, a begger, a king...The bullet dqesn't choose. That's pretty rare nowadays to hear songs about this. They found a way to the people's mind and heart, but, unfortunatelly, it didn't stop the war.
