Definitely a must-have for any Dungeon Master and I highly recommend it if you plan on creating exciting battles in your D&D adventures for you and your friends. Many powerful foes to choose from in this book and you can use the monster history/descriptions to write some interesting stories for the players to explore.
First off, all your old favourites are back in print thanks to us! Thats right. Wizards asked us what we wanted and they delivered. Even a few new monsters too!
Second, the art. It's beautiful. Mixture of old school fantasy drawings with modern age details, this book will have you wishing for some of the art to be converted into poster size.
Finally, the attention to details, stats, etc is well presented. Each monster has at least a page of info for it. Easy to use index, sample add on templates will make any gm's job easier. cant wait for the final DM book. Excellent work Wizards!!
Animals and their dire versions are piled as quick references in the back of the book (does anyone require writeups on the ecology of dinosaurs? The diet of wolves? The intelligence stat of a bear?) which respects the page space and saves it for fictional beasties.
Really, the team's only oversight is the scarcity absence of appendices - there is, for example, no table of monster entries by challenge level - whereas PATHFINDER has 14 (you read that right!) at the back of their own BESTIARY.
Hasbro Inc. hardly needs my help selling these books at this point so let me just say to a prospective buyer: don't hesitate!

Sure some may not love it cause of writing content but im all in it for visual content and having clear cut look into each monster.Published 2 days ago by Jack Armstrong
My husband loves these - we've done almost all the previous editions of D&D, along with Pathfinder, and this seems to be simpler, but still contain the best of all. Read morePublished 26 days ago by Laurel MacLeod
It's really good, nice pictures, but it could use more monsters. 35 pages on dragons might be a bit excessive, even if it is the titular monster. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Mike Friesen
