I bought the audio book and really enjoyed it. (Glad Robert did such a good job narrating - a lot of times I can't listen to an audio book because of the voice or the reading bothers me. But Robert's voice and reading were pleasant and since he knew the work so well, he really made the book come alive. Thank you Robert!) So many good stories in this memoir besides the Disney years. Entering Dachau after the Germans left and he met Veronica Lake just before she hit it big. I could go on and on. Such a fascinating life that did so much! I loved the memoir so much that I had to buy the kindle book for the pictures. The pictures were smaller than they would be in the book, but I still enjoyed looking at the photos and seeing where they fit in to the stories he told.
Robert Sherman's Amazing Autobiography
May 14, 2018 - Published on Amazon.com
Robert Sherman's autobiography is one of the best-written books I've ever read. He is an amazing writer in addition of one of the twentieth century’s best musical composers and painters. The book reads like a novel, with great storytelling about his endless adventures through life. From putting on neighborhood shows in childhood, to service in World War II, to songwriting for Walt Disney (personally), and then his post-Disney career adventures, I never wanted to put it down. Sherman knew so many major figures of the era, it’s also a compelling insider’s view into the personalities that defined the times.
Well-written book of an interesting man

I recently watched "Saving Mr. Banks" on DVD. I loved Mary Poppins as a child and was thrilled with it as young mother able to share some of the fun I remembered with my children. But even more than that, I was also interested in the Sherman brothers who had written so much of the music in the Disney movies that I loved while growing up. I was not disappointed. Robert Sherman had wanted to be a writer of literature early in life and came to writing lyrics for his brother's songs more from necessity than desire. His writing in the sample on my Kindle pulled me in so I had to buy the book to learn more about this man. It is a wonderful book. Not only do I know more about Robert, but I learned so much more of the background for the movie that brought me to the book.

A few good stories here, but generally rambling vignettes with no deep lessons, information, or characterizations
Walt Disney, Disneyland and so much more.

A great read about an interesting man and his amazing story as a WW 2 veteran and a prolific song writer for Walt Disney and others. His candid account of the many personalities he had encountered just added to the story.
