Just received the Motorcycle Journeys Through the Appalachians: 3rd Edition, and am using it to plan an upcoming trip to Deals Gap from Toronto.

Some very usefull information.

More suited for the cruiser audience but still good for us sportbike riders as well.

HASH(0xb1af08e8) out of 5 stars Like a Guided Tour May 15 2015
By Kevin der Kinderen - Published on Amazon.com

Good planning book. Mr. Coyner mentions early on one of his favorite roads is Ft. Valley Road near Front Royal, VA. That happens to be my favorite for a quick, local getaway to unwind. I've had a couple of trips starting out in Gettysburg based on this book. While I didn't stick 100% to the course laid out I did hit the main features and I did hit some nice roads I'd have never found. Dale takes the time to talk about the sights and suggests some places to stop and check out including some nice places to eat. The book refers to a website apparently once run by Mr. Coyner but appears to no longer be in service. No matter, all the needed material to plan out a nice trip around the Appalachians is right there in the book.

I'm looking forward to trying out some of the other roads as time goes on. I think the Cumberland area will be next.

Very good author. Dale covers a lot of interesting points & is very thorough. I meet up with riders from different states & we're always looking for good/great rides. I'll be trying out some of his routes this summer.

HASH(0xb1af0af8) out of 5 stars Easy to read & interesting sidelines Jan. 4 2013

I'm a tourism coordinator for Southeast Tennessee. I'm familiar with road trips, but the motorcycle culture today is different than your average Sunday driver. Dale's book helped me see sites & other interesting side
scenery through a real biker's eye. I enjoyed his comments along the byways. Thanks Dale.

Well written and informative.
I live in Southwest Virginia and I never knew there were as many great rides in and around the Appalachians. There was also information on lodging and meals as well as interesting sites.

HASH(0xb1af0e88) out of 5 stars Great roads guide Nov. 28 2012

I already own the 2nd editon, my buddy has the first. Coyner's guide is great. Even if you don't ride his loops, you know which roads to ride. I always take this book along when riding the soutrhern Appalachians. I have shown it to many other riders in hope that they will buy their own copy. Dales's writing is both informative and entertaining. The maps are great.
