A very sturdy Dual Arm Monitor Mount -- with only one flaw

I read all the reviews and decided to purchase this model -- a bit older in design - and definitely when on sale for CDN $75 seemed to be a good buy.

The good:
- A very sturdy design
- Easy to put together
- The clamp is very solid
- when tightened propery -- monitors do not swivel at all
- for 27" monitors -- does not require a lot of "back space" for the W pattern
- use of thumbscrews make installing the monitors easy,

The Bad
- It does not have any individual height adjustment.

Mount-IT support was responsive -- claiming that individual height adjustment was there -- I had to open all of the plastic end caps.
Not the case. I double checked very adjustment.

While you can adjust the dual arms (as a unit) up and down -- using the screws at the back -- there is no individual height adjustment.

I am using the exact same monitors on both arms (HP 273Q) but I have a 1/3 inch difference between the two monitors (a bit odd).

I decided to keep the mount despite this -- given how solid it is and that I don't suffer from any Monitor swivel (when tightened).

Been using it for a few years without any real issues.

The only real Issue is for some reason my right monitor is higher than my left by about 1 inch.

No Idea why considering the product has no Vertical adjustment other than the main height adjustment which adjusts the entire height of both monitors and not individually.

Other than that though it's held both my 29" monitors for multiple years without any issues even after changing desks.

The only real downside is all the weight is distributed to one focal point where you connect it to your desk.

So if you have a cheap fiberboard desk you picked up for like $50-100 at Wal-Mart it's going to make it sag after a few months or year+. I'm not saying it doesn't work with them though, I had a crap fiberboard desk from Wal-Mart and it lasted a good 5+ years. However the Sag was pretty intense honestly like maybe 1-1.5 Inches from the sides to the middle.

But if you have a decent quality desk or mount the device above a weight-bearing panel it won't cause any issues at all.

I'm still using this product after nearly 7 years and I've had no issues at all with it.

Really a fantastic monitor mount. At this price, it offers plenty of functionality and positions. I love being able to turn a screen out to watch something while I may be at my couch or working in the kitchen. The mount is very sturdy. I have a 24" monitor on one end and a 22" on the other. I don't see any problems upgrading to 27" which I intend to do in the future. The height is adjustable, but requires unscrewing two screws, not a huge deal as I didn't spend hundreds on a premium mount. The base which rests against the desk is padded so it will not scratch. All screws snugged up without issue and all required hardware was included. Cable management is holes are available though the back of the stand and out the very top. Due to the configuration of my desk I found this was not required. I do, however, use the built-in clips leading to the monitors along the arms of the mount. Overall a fantastic product. The product's bigger than what the photos lead you to believe. No issues with the stand leaning or other issues reported. I have three monitors on my desk and walk close by regularly and no longer fear knocking over a monitor to the floor. I also love all the desk space I've gained back. It really gives my setup and phenomenally clean look to it. I'm really enjoying it.

I got this product when it was on sale, and it has done wonders. I used to have issues with reverberation going through the stands and making my monitors shake. However, swapping to this stand has solved that issue. I can't be any more satisfied. When it came to assembly, the joint caps just kept falling off. I'm glad the monitor comes with extra ones, because one of mine were broken. In addition, it's a nice feature to be able to configure the sturdiness by screwing in the bolts tighter.

Pros:
- Good cable management with possibility given to hide the cables in the stand shaft.
- Standard 100x100 and 75x75 support for vesa mount.

Cons:
- You need two people to really mount monitors to the stand or to set it up in general
- Adjustments to the stands position relative to the desk are practically impossible with one person.
- Two monitors with different height spots for vesa mounts will not work as both left and right mount are stuck together.

- My personal stand came with many broken parts and the box was warped out upon arrival.
The Box looked more like a pill than a rectangular prism. I think the stand was a return that someone else made as there were scratched on parts of the stand and 2 of the plastic covers covering the bolts had been broken (Maybe due to shipping or due to another problem). The box was also very hastily taped further pointing to a returned stand.
I bought this stand "New" from amazon and am not happy with the product at all. It works for a stand and holds the monitors up but adjustments are hard to make.

Would not recommend purchase.

Instead I would recommend either getting a different desk mount, or getting a wall mount. Overall not satisfied with my purchase and I will be returning it for the refund.

This is a GREAT monitor mount, but it does have some issues. Read the Pro/con list at the end!

First of all, I love the look and feel of this mount. The construction is excellent, leaving a sturdy but classy look when all is said and done. The cable management is excellent as it provides tie-off points, and allows you to route your cables through the main post IF your cables are long enough (Not the mount's fault if they aren't!). While the frame of the mount is excellently manufactured, we suffer from soft threads yet again (Something that I have noticed in a LOT of monitor mounts, but who is really going to shell out the $150 for more robust threads??). Just be careful when you are attach the main arm to the main post - have someone hold up the arm as you thread the fastening screws in. I had to find out the hard way that 27" monitors make the main arm very difficult to position on the post.

Set-up was cumbersome with 2 27" Korean 1440p monitors as those things are pretty heavy. Had to have my Room mate help my hold the monitors up while I used the PROVIDED VESA FASTENERS to attach the arm's back plate to the monitors. Thats right folks, they provide you with Vesa fasteners so you don' t even have to go to the hardware store!

** Owners of Korean Monitors beware... The 1440p Korean 27" monitors from Amazon/Ebay are notorious for having extremely shallow threads in their back panels. If you try to use any standard vesa fasteners that come with the mount, you will leave a gaping 2-3" gap between the backplate of the main arm and the frame of the monitor. You have to either go to ACE hardware and look for shorter screws (10M I think is the size... its metric) OR you can carefully take a hack saw to the spacers that are meant for curved/back monitors and use them as spacers. That is what I ended up doing.**

Lastly comes the stiffness of the joints. While 27" monitors out a little bit of strain on the arm joints (especially the one that allows for tilt of the monitor towards the ceiling/floor) they are adequate. I had to tighten the joint for each monitor quite a bit to keep them from swiveling downward at each little jolt to my desk, but they are working now. I would have preferred the use of a fly-nut here so I didn't have to dig the PROVIDED wrench when I wanted to tightened it more, but this is a very nit-picky point.

In summary:

Pros:
Comes with Vesa fasteners for both straight-back and curved-back monitors
articulating arms that work with dual 27" monitors!
Height adjustable (not easily) and thickness adjustable (desk thickness)
Goes high enough so that you can put a pair of large speakers under teach monitor unobstructed.
Looks great!
Versatile!

Cons:
Swivel joint on the articulating arms require a lot of tightening for use with 27" monitors, but it works.
Threads are unbearably soft for the post that sets the height of the main arm. Take care to support the arm when attaching main arm.
Your room mate will steal this from you given the opportunity - even if they don't have 2 monitors or a desk!

Just got this today and put it up with no problems in just a few minutes time. I had a cheap particle board desk like most college students I know and I needed more desk space so I decided to give this a try based on price and reviews.

I was skeptical when I first opened the packaging but now that I have it all assembled and adjusted I am really happy with the results. For my setup it is holding an Asus VH236 and Asus VG278H. The adjustments are pretty tight but the supplied allen wrench has adequate leverage to it and it wasn't too terrible (for reference, I am not a big or strong guy).

I did screw a 2x4 to the back of my desk and mount the stand to that so it is not using the supplied C-Clamp. The C-Clamp does appear to be sturdy and has two clamps which I feel would provide better support if I had to use it as compared to a single clamp design.

Because I got this to get more desk space I also modified the main pole to allow the arms to be screwed into the front instead of the back. This essentially gives you about 4 more inches of desk space and moves the monitors back the same distance. This was easily accomplished with a 8mm1.25 tap which is the size of the supplied bolts. Using the tap I can say the quality of the metal is not extremely great but more than ample for this application.

Both vesa mounts will rotate in both directions for people using monitors in landscape and perhaps needing to tilt it for bios input, etc. The wires can be ran through the main pole and I have two DVI cables, two power cables, and two 3.5mm audio cables ran through it with no issues.

One concern I had was about having enough height on the main pole to get my 27inch monitor off the desk and this is not an issue. At max height there is about 6 to 7 inches clearance under my monitor.

Also, I believe the VESA mounts are only suppose to tilt 15 degrees up and down but my unit will tilt fully up and down. I like having a full range of control, but some may not.

I believe that sums up all of my thoughts on this monitor mount. I would highly recommend it as it is both affordable and of good build quality. Only thing that would be nice is easier adjustment of the height (perhaps a future modification...).

::Update May 8 2013::

The mount is still working great no issues. Initially it took me a little while to "dial in" the resistance on the vesa mounts to hold the monitors well. I move the monitors around a lot for different reasons. Watching a movie, showing someone something, playing a game, or writing a research paper. I move them at least daily and they hold their position just fine. I am now considering getting another one of these mounts to run more monitors on my computer. Still recommend this mount.

This mount is VERY solid; a bit overkill, even (it's a little heavy). Note that this product does not allow any vertical movement (without a screw driver), though it does allow tilt.

I am about 6' tall, and I mounted this on a sit-stand desk. I ended up putting a piece of 2x4 under the mount, to raise it up another 1-1/2". The C-Clamp allows up to 4", so this worked nicely. Now my 24" monitor is at just right height when I am standing, and just a tad higher than I'd like when I'm sitting (I guess that is just due to my body shape).

The eye bolts on the C-Clamp were a little too long to allow my sit-stand desk to go down all the way, so I found M10 x 1.50 x 40 mm hex head tap bolts at a home improvement store to replace the eye bolts.

The eye bolts have a circular plate screwed into the end of them to spread the pressure, so they don't bite into the bottom of the desk that you are mounting it to. Since I couldn't find replacement bolts that had a hole in the end of them, I removed the circular plates from the eye bolts, and turned them upside down. This way, the end of the replacement bolts would go into the divot in the plate. I put a nut at the end of the bolts, so they wouldn't move around too much, as the divot is much bigger than the diameter of the bolts.

Since the divots were now facing up, meaning that the surface area contacting the bottom of the desk would be small, I used a piece of 1 x 4, and drilled two 15/16" holes part way through it, so the the divots go into the holes, and the 1 x 4 contacts the bottom of the desk. Sorry I can't draw a picture to elaborate, but hopefully you can figure it out, if you need to do the same. Alternatively, just let the bolts bite into the piece of 1 x 4; that would probably hold just as well, with less effort.

I suggest that the makers change their design to use hex head bolts instead of eye bolts (and probably a little shorter), to accommodate sit-stand desks.

The articulation of the arms is pretty good, but I am currently using only one 24" monitor and a small laptop, so I would like to move the monitor (on the right) further to the left, such that the monitor is slightly across the median, but the arms don't articulate that far. I clamped the mount slightly to the left on the desk, and that is good enough. I think they could build the arms with just a bit more articulation without compromising the structural integrity, though.

Overall, great product, great price; I highly recommend it.

My wife uses a curved desk from CRT monitor days where the monitor is about four and a half feet away and raised on a 6 inch shelf. She couldn't get her dual LCD's close enough to be happy without taking them off the shelf. But then the remaining desk space was very minimal... After searching around for a dual monitor adjustable stand. I had about decided to put off the purchase. Other stores listed with $100 plus price tags and generally poor reviews. I couldn't really understand what about them was costing so much. Or inversely why this one was priced so much lower. Although no reviewers mentioned it, I suspected plastic or very poor fitment. The package arrived early and hey..This box is heavy...I unpack and behold...There is no way any of the other items I looked at are built more sturdy than this. Reviewers stating 'Heavy Duty' are right. Steel and Steel and some more steel is what this thing is made from. Nothing flimsy here at all. The only concern I had was reviewers mention of the torque on the tilt adjustment bolt to keep big monitors in place. I looked at it and thought if needed I would take it apart and put a serrated washer on some piece to help hold things in place. But just a VERY good tightening did the job. I mounted the stand on the FRONT of the raised shelf on her desk and the monitors are now arms length +6in away. No adjustments to the stand were required to mount this way. The clamps cleared by about 1/4 inch. Height is adjustable in about 1 and 1/2 inch increments but only by unscrewing two phillips head screws and sliding the mount up or down the vertical pole. I don't think this will be a problem . I never adjust height on my monitors and as far as I know she doesn't either. It took me about 40min to install, including removing the stands from the monitors(and cleaning the desk). The only issue I had was the adjustable arms were a tight fit onto the vertical pole. It actually took a bit of pressure to get them on. It scratched the pole but not bad. A little wiping and all looks ok. Everything else was set up and go. About 5min of adjusting for the best view and wife is smiling. After about 4hrs now my wife is reporting that the setup is great. Hey, Wife is happy = me is happy. The only improvement I can see that would make this a better setup is if the vertical pole had a cutout near the top like the one at the bottom where the wires go in to let the wiring come back out instead of out the top as designed. I didn't route the wires inside the pole because wires coming out the top would be a visible detraction from an otherwise clean setup. Overall this purchase seems like a really good value compared to the other options I looked at. I would certainly recommend this stand, Amazon, and Value Max to other potential buyers. I just didn't have any problems and the result is excellent.
