I thought this book was great. I've enjoyed all of the Lady Appleton mysteries and it is easy to become involved in her life. This book of short stories filled in the gaps and was easy to follow chronilogically. Looking forward to more.

I enjoy the Lady Appleton series by Kathy Lynn Emerson. This is a collection of short stories that fill in some of the time between the books of the series and add further enjoyment and enlightenment. It is clear that the author has taken a lot of time to research and is willing to share lots and lots more pieces of the period to deeply color her writing. This volume is a good addition.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Exceptional Elizabethan Oct. 28 2007

Lady Susanna Appleton is a sixteenth century education for the history fanatic; her adventures cover a wide reach of Elizabethan society in a way that humanizes the period and teaches the reader the language of the time. I am not a short story reader but I found these tales to be a delightful introduction to a character I will persue into the "Face Down" series. An invented character with a creative past, Lady Susanna has piqued my interest in the period and I want to know more. Emerson writes well, totally immersing her reader in the post-Henry VIIIth chaos of Renaissance England. A real joy to read!
