I had only used a couple recipes off the blog and they turned out great! So I took a chance and bought the book. It is not only one of the most beautiful cookbooks I own but the recipies are delicious and simple. Pictures with every recipe and its layed out in seasons, something I love in a cookbook. All vegetarian, lots of vegan, plant based recipes. And she's Canadian!

This is a beautiful photographed cookbook. I have a variety of healthy cooking books and what really struck me was the diversity of new recipes I have not tried yet. Plus I love a book that's organized by the seasons. The recipes that I have cooked so far were very delicious and easy achievable as well.

I have enjoyed reading Sarah's blog for a couple of years. The cookbook is great but I don't like the seasonal format. I prefer to have a book that has sections like soup, salad, dessert, etc. This will be a book that I will enjoy for years. The chapter on ESSENTIAL TECHNIQUES is a chapter I will refer to frequently.

Everything I have tried in this book has been a success. All the recipes are truly satisfying and provide satiation and energy, making you feel good about the food you are eating. I also really appreciate Sarah's perspective - eating quality whole foods so that you don't have to worry about counting calories, dieting etc. By following these recipes, you know you are filling your body with important nutrients, vitamins and minerals. How could you go wrong?! The only downside and the reason I did not give it 5 stars is quite a few recipes have hard to obtain ingredients; coming from someone that is used to frequenting health food stores and farmers' markets.

I absolutely love this book. I have so many pages bookmarked to try. It has been a long time since I bought a cookbook where I wanted to try and make every single recipe. I am so happy I bought it. I've been a fan of Sarah's blog for many years and was not disappointed with the book. The recipes are new and creative. Sarah's perspective on nutrition and healthy eating is refreshing - she doesn't adhere to rigid food guidelines, but rather focuses on whole, fresh foods. She is inspiring and so is the cookbook! Worth buying.

All I can say is, phenomenal cookbook!! The grain cooking guidelines, and nut/seed milk sections are useful all on their own, but the seasonal organization and wonderfully detailed recipes are great for not only chefs' like myself, but for anyone in their home kitchens who is looking for a healthy but still flavourful food creation experience. I reference her book and blog more times than I can mention here.

I'm giving this book 5 stars despite a few little editing errors and the use of hard to find ingredients because I really do love it. It may not be the book for you if you're on a budget since many recipes call for expensive super food ingredients - but saying that, I've found that there are a lot of recipes that don't call for such ingredients or that can have the ingredients omitted or substituted (although sometimes this takes some imagination on the readers part). I'll also say that out of the recipes I've made I have changed things slightly, based on preferences and the ingredients I have on hand - I tend to view recipes as a guide (and often one I follow very closely), but not something that I must replicate.

Recipes I've tried:

- Carrot rhubarb muffins - I've made these twice now and both times they've disappeared within two days (there are two of us). I did find them a bit sweet as written since they use both coconut sugar and maple syrup. I substituted cane sugar for the coconut sugar and ended up halving it the second time - I might even reduce it a bit more next time, but I like my baked goods not very sweet at all. I loved this recipe though, and the density of the muffins due to using oat flour.
- Dark Chocolate Cherry Oats - I didn't actually follow this recipe as written and just mixed the maple syrup, cacao and cacao nibs into my cooked steel cut oats with some raspberries, but what I ended up with tasted like a healthy dessert for breakfast.
- Moon macaroons - Loved these! I ended up substituting almond butter for the coconut butter since I had it on hand and my blender was broken so I couldn't make coconut butter by hand. I used cashew pulp for the nut pulp.

Lately we've been requesting cook books from Random House Canada (See Juicing and Salad Love) and we are so in love with every single one we receive. Random House sure knows how to pick the books and package them beautifully, interior and exterior wise. This specific post will be about My New Roots by Sarah Britton which was released recently.

Sarah Britton is actually dubbed as the "Queen bee of the health blogs" and this book was inspired by her very popular blog. This book contains 100 plant based recipes and I can vouch that even though her ingredients are used by us everyday, her recipes turn them into something more delicious and unique. The book is divided into seasons, with summer split into early and late summer. I love how cook books are dividing their books in this way. Only one recipe was tried from this book but like I said, it was delicious

The final product looked identical to the one in the photo and it was easy to replicate. it is mostly made from lentils and itself on its own is so fulfilling even though it is technically just lentil soup. We just added a bit of friend onion garnish on top, but that was optional.

I love the rustic feel of this recipe and I will definitely be doing this recipe again in the future. All the recipes are very healthy and there are many options such as vegetarian, vegan, and even gluten free options. I really want to try out the dessert section because there are some mouth watering ones I've tabbed for later. Also, my whole family loved this dish.
