Product Description

Desperation makes a girl do crazy things…

When twenty-one year old Raina O’Connor is kicked out of her room on short notice, she’s thrown into a frantic search for a new place to stay. As the situation becomes more urgent, her choices have dwindled to her least favorite option—ladies’ man, Kent Nicholson.

Kent Nicholson loves women, just not as a roommate…

When a gorgeous blonde with big hazel eyes answers Kent’s ad for a roommate, his red flags start flying. He’s looking for a wingman, not a chick who will put a damper on his game or drench his apartment in pink. It’s clear she’s in a bind, and something about her makes him break his own rules. But when he reluctantly accepts, it’s with four concrete conditions.

Be his wingman. Don’t get in his way with other girls. No bitchy attitudes. And most importantly, she can’t fall for him.

Pretty sure this was the world’s worst idea—ever…

Trust is something earned. Raina learned that the hard way when her father broke her heart as a child, making it easy to steer clear of relationships. But living with Kent somehow stirs emotions Raina has always forbidden herself to have. Plus, he’s everything she never wanted—untrustworthy, pigheaded…and gorgeous. Something tells her Kent isn’t free of his own secret scars…

Love can drag you down and spit you out, and be worth every second.

HASH(0xa75f91a4) out of 5 stars two characters with baggage but perfect for each other Jan. 5 2016
By kimberley carr - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book was a refreshing change in that both lead characters but they both put their trust in each other and this little venture of living together :) Kent is a hot man with a lot of baggage in the past, Raina has baggage of a different sort but it equally weighs her down,if not more so. There is plenty of angst and sexual tension through the pages and i enjoyed reading this book a lot. Fist time with this author but i would be interested to see what else she and maybe this series has to offer. Not being vague i just do not want my whole thoughts on the book to be in the review, i enjoyed this so much i read it religiously over two days between work, that is how much i could not put it down :)

HASH(0xa75f93e4) out of 5 stars Captivating! Jan. 11 2016

The pages literally fly out of this book. It was such a captivating story of two people who struggle with internal issues that actually rescue each other. The love scenes are HOT and romantic with a sense of reality. I do find my self thinking about the characters throughout the day. Which means the book lives now in my mind and not just on the pages.

Shana's writing is simply enthusiastic. You can definitely tell she is a talented writer. I only see her books getting better. This author will be one I follow with great interest.

HASH(0xa75f9588) out of 5 stars Kent you are one dirty messed up hottie Jan. 28 2016

Wow, this book had my attention from the jump!! I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I thought it was going to be a sweet and funny new adult ride. But alas the wicked Ms. Vanderpool had other thoughts in mind. This was my first read by this author and it certainly won't be my last. I loved her style and how she developed such amazingly tragic characters.

Raina, is in a jam, she needs a new place to call home ASAP, since she was rudely kicked out by her nasty roommate. She has not been having the best of luck with finding a place to live that doesn’t consist of, creepy older men, women with a million cats, and so on. She has one last shot when she answers an ad for a roommate. However, when she comes face to face with a shirtless Kent Nicholson, her jaw damn near hits the ground! And I don’t blame her. After a little begging, pleading, and a round of Puppy dog eyes, Kent relents and lets Raina be his new roomie on a trial bases, and she has to be his wingman so he can get his hook up on. From there it’s a lot of Ups and Downs, highs, and lows, fights and laughs. To say that Raina and Kent’s relationship is complicated is the world’s biggest understatement ever!

This book was filled with so much angst, and so much drama, it made my head spin. I must have been in the mood for some crazy, hot cold, anger, love, lust, type of story cause I just ate this up like a pint of Ben and Jerry’s!!! I mean there were so many twists and turns and the issues Raina and Kent had to endure were terrible. Between backstabbing friends, cheating ex’s, and a family dynamic to make your head spin, I was just left speechless by the end. My only gripe is that I wish we got an epilogue at the end. I feel the ending was wrapped up way to quickly and I was not sure if what I read was the author telling us how their life turned out, or if it was merely a suggestion to what could happen for them.

I cannot wait for book two, and I hope we get to see more from Raina and Kent’s life in future books. I recommend this book to anyone who misses their dramatic, crazy/love relationships of their youth.

HASH(0xa75f9954) out of 5 stars A Crazy, Messy Beautiful Ride! Jan. 25 2016
By Sandra Shipman - Published on

***4.5 HEARTS***

My Sweet Demise is Shana's debut novel and if I didn't look that up, I wouldn't have known it. She did an amazing job! This story is not an easy one but it's worth it.

Raina needed a room. Kent needed a roommate and a wingman. He definitely wasn't looking for a woman to cramp his style but he couldn't say no to those pouty lips and hazel eyes. Raina had no idea she was about to become a roommate and wing woman to an infamous manwhore who enjoyed his conquests on the couch but soon she would see him in action close up. She even shocked herself when she found herself turned on by it. Raina also saw another part of Kent in that moment and it wasn't just his impressive manhood. They didn't know it yet but that first night as roommates was a start to a crazy, messy, and beautiful ride....

Raina shouldn't want Kent. He was everything she was avoiding but she saw more. Yes, he is an a--. Yes, he is a man whore. Yes, he likes to party. But she also feels safe with him, he makes her laugh, and most of all, he makes her feel alive. He also confuses the f- out of her.

Kent should stay away from Raina. He knew it when he opened the door. She was too good for him. He felt women deserved to be punished, but for some reason he wanted to protect her. He shouldn't trust her, he doesn't trust any of the others, they are just all lying whores to him but she is different and it scares the s- out of him. He finds that he actually likes himself when she is around. She shouldn't be here but he can't seem to let her go.

Raina and Kent have issues. She doesn't trust men and he doesn't trust women. They have their reasons and they are good ones but if they want to try to be more than roommates, they need to find trust in each other. They have a connection, that is for sure but is that because of their similar issues or is it because they see through one another like nobody else has?

I was addicted to this book! I didn't want to put it down. It was a crazy rollercoaster ride with Raina and Kent sitting in the front. They are a beautiful mess. I do love my man whores and Kent takes it up a notch with his ways but I still saw his protective and funny side so I knew I would fall for him at some point. Raina is a cool chick and has her issues but she doesn't just take his s-. Not gonna lie, I wanted to slap them both more than once but I also wanted to hug them. See, it made me a mess too right along with them.

Overall, it's an awesome debut novel. It's was a frustrating, sexy, emotional, and beautiful story. I think the next book is going to be just as good if not better.

“The goal tonight is sex. I don’t like the eager ones. I appreciate a good chase. Find me a girl I can chase and you have a place to stay.”

“You’re my hero.”
“Some would disagree, but I’m not one of them.”

“Rain,” he whispers. “I hope you love what you find.”
