This book is good, well written pre teen adventure/action. The story takes place in 1950s England and involves a number of young children facing off against big, mean, smugglers. It is written like a Hardy Boys book, except with younger heroes. The book is a perfect introduction into the world of reading for a young child. This is a series of books at a very good price and is very much recommended.

I downloaded this freebie for my three youngsters since I have to travel on Fathers Day, and the book was supposed to be for then, but one of them grabbed my kindle and started reading it, and didn't want to stop.

How good is that??? For a freebie, this author has made my kids happy and I am over the moon, though now I have to buy something else for Sunday. But I can't complain. This is a great book for kids and I would recommend it to anyone who has kids.

HASH(0xa8ec8714) out of 5 stars I'm not the Age Group June 18 2012

I'm in my late teens, so not the target group for this book, but I just had to leave my first review for this book because I really want a sequel! I LOVED Enid Blyton when I was younger, and still do, and this had everything that those (Famous Five) books had. Action, adventure, mystery, intrigue. Plus, its good to read something set in the 1950s, it makes it a bit different.

HASH(0xa8b68f0c) out of 5 stars 1950 All the Way Aug. 17 2012

Twelve-year-old Joe Mitchell and his two younger sisters go to Smugglers Cove for the summer holidays. The story takes place in the 1950's and feels like it could have been written then, too. Shortly after they arrive, they get caught up in a mystery. They band together to expose a spy, putting themselves in danger.
Some kids may find THE MYSTERY OF SMUGGLERS COVE a little too dated and unrealistic or improbable, but kids and their parents who still love the original Early Hardy boys, the Famous Five or the Bobbsey Twins books will probably still enjoy it. kidsmysteryreviews.com

HASH(0xa863309c) out of 5 stars The Mystery of Smugglers Cove June 16 2012

There are not many books that my son and daughter will like, it is hard to find a book that has adventure and all that but isn't just all about that. And, for the low price I paid for this, I it was worth it. They haven't finished the book yet, but I have already ordered the short sequel, so I thought I would just leave a review on here first.

It's actually my first one, but hopefully, if there are other books on amazon like this, then it won't be the last. Anyway, I don't know how to describe this, except say what other reviewers have said, which is that it truly is like the Famous Five books by Enid Blyton. I guess that is what the author was thinking anyway, since it is set in UK in 1950, and he succeeded.
