Product Description

A beautiful girl is missing and may not want to be found,
A soldier on his last and most important mission,
A vow made to a dying friend.

Gerald "Hardly" McDougall is a forgotten man. He's abused, bullied, and left behind. The only escape left is to join the British Army. At first, he's a reluctant soldier. Then, everything changes when tensions in Northern Ireland escalate and the Army need a man with a particular set of characteristics. Hardly's assignment takes him into the heart of the troubles where he lives in the same houses as the IRA soldiers he's fighting against.

"My Name Is Hardly"takes the reader on a spellbinding twenty year journey through Hardly's life-from the beginning, when he leaves Scotland and joins the Army, to the tragic final days when he embarks on a search to find the only woman who can answer all of his questions.

Follow-up to the #1 Amazon Bestseller, "My Temporary Life"-easily enjoyed as a standalone novel.

Having read Martins first book " my temporary life" I coudn't wait to read " my name is hardly". Many times i sat down with the intention of reading only one chapter only to find I could not put it down, it kept me captivated. I also got caught up in the excitement of the book and found myself reading faster and faster trying to keep up with the excitment.Without giving it away I want to say that I loved the ending.I am looking forward to the third book in this trilogy, and anything else Martin may write.

"My Name Is Hardly", the second book of the "My Temporary Life Trilogy" gives a great and accurate insight into the tension in Ireland in the mid-nineties. Hardly, a height-challenged Scottish fellow joins the British Army to collect vital information by sharing time sitting in lofts with his army buddy, Walter. The author created compelling characters, weaving from Hardly's troubled past to him overcoming personal challenges to present day happiness for Hardly and his army buddies and friends. I enjoyed the dialogue (vernacular when appropriate), setting and the tension and suspense and I rooted for Hardly all the way through. The author transports the reader with descriptions and dialogue to Ireland and England and portraits the countries, people and events with a refreshing palette.
Martin Crosbie created a tale of survival and friendship and gives a simple yet profound definition of love. I started with book two but will now read the first book, just to find out more about the protagonist's past and I am looking forward to reading the third book of the trilogy and I highly recommend this book. An exciting, believable and compassionate voice to listen out for.

Ron N`s review says it all! I stumbled upon ``My Temporary Life`` on my kindle. I raced through that to get the second book ``My Name Is Hardly``. I finished it at 3:00 AM and now cannot wait for the third in this trilogy, but I do need my sleep! Keep on writing Martin, I loved these stories!

This is book two, of a trilogy, the first being My Temporary Life, and the third due out this year, so I understand.

Hardly is a wee Scot, who as a youngster had a very hard and unenviable life. Gerald came to be known by the nickname Hardly, by unfortunate circumstances as a school boy. I won't spoil that read for you other than to say the foundations of Hardly's character are explained in My Temporary Life. I recommend that novel also.

Without going into too much detail, I very much enjoyed both of Crosbie's books. The character development is touching, especially Hardly's. He slowly finds that it's possible to live life with purpose, and have a future with happiness.

I loved the continuation of the story and finding out how Hardly coped as an adult. The description of the time in the attics was gripping and horrifying. A great story of Ireland's and Hardly's struggles. Can't wait for the third book.
