Product Description

My Name is Nobody is a spoof of spaghetti Westerns, but it's also a legitimate, highly regarded entry in the genre. Its pedigree is purebred, as it was executive produced by the maestro of spaghetti Westerns, Sergio Leone, as a personal farewell to the genre that he helped to create. It's a transitional film, cheekily acknowledging the impact of The Wild Bunch and Sam Peckinpah (whose name is seen on a gravestone in one scene) and the popularity of Terence Hill, whose comedic "Trinity" films represented the last gasp of the once-glorious spaghetti Western. All of these elements are beautifully combined in the amusing tale of Nobody (Hill), an ambitious young gunman in 1899 who idolizes a legendary gunslinger Jack Beauregard, played by Henry Fonda in his final Western (and his second for Leone, after the classic Once Upon a Time in the West). Before Beauregard can retire in peace, Nobody sets up a final showdown of epic proportions, and the great Ennio Morricone enhances the abundance of memorable scenes with one of his most playfully inventive scores (including a comical use of Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries"). Tonino Valerii fully deserved his director's credit, but Leone also made significant contributions (including the opening scene), and the result is a delightful and surprisingly resonant film that Steven Spielberg later called his favorite Leone production. It's easy to see why: Like many of Spielberg's films, My Name is Nobody qualifies as both art and entertainment. --Jeff Shannon --This text refers to an alternate DVD edition.

You might say "How can he be rating this movie when he doesn't own the DVD? Well I have the movie on VHS and it's a great one.
Almost every old cowboy movie is slow paced, "My name is Nobody" isn't any different but it's thoughtfully and very detailed. The story is great and has a great ending. The movie is both funny and serious.. mostly serious.
Of course the soundtrack of this movie is, to my opinion still unmatched by Ennio Morricone.. very moving stuff which really ties into the old west era.
Enjoy the movie!

Tick tock...the clock ticks away. The famous gunslinger Jack Beauregarde sits in the barber's chair...an assassin menacingly strops the razor as Jack leans back in the chair, eyes closed...tick, tock, tick tock...the bandit swathes on the shaving foam and sets the razor to Jack's neck...the next sound is an ominous "click" and Beauregarde has his gun cocked at the assassin's nethers. After getting a nervously smooth shave he guns down all three assassins and sets the real barber free, giving him ten whole dollars! It has the best beginning and the best ending of any of the classic "spaghetti westerns," and it is my favourite...and who is "Nobody?" Well... as the barber explains to his son who asks "Ain't nobody faster than Jack Beauregarde?": "No son, nobody is faster than Jack Beauregarde!!!"

Was looking for this video for years. I needed it since it's one of my all times favorite. You gotta have it too. This is Leone's masterpiece in its kind: all the elements of the spaghetti western plus the comedy part. Can't beat that. Sure, I bought it. Only thing is, it's a shame to have THAT specific edition in my collection. It is stuffed with mistakes and the cover is totally lame. First, it has written on it the cast from another Leone's movie with Quebec actor Robert Charlebois(wich they even spelled Charlesbois and that you guys at Amazon should carry). Also, they'd better have sticked to the groovy original hand drawn cover of Nobody and his red sock with a hole in it...Finally, the opening sequence is the original one written in italian. In one word, if you are looking for the famous MY NAME IS NOBODY, this is it. Go for it but if you are a maniac like me you can expect a little deception from this particular edition. Very sloppy one. If you're the average movie collector and are only looking for the content, it'll do for you.
What a great movie....

Believe me, I don't give easily 5 stars to a movie, but this one is a really good work. The story about Jack Beauregard (who hates to see that "his" times are gone and that society has lost its former innocence) and the Wild Bunch (150 people who ride and shoot as they were 1000...) is real poetry. And what about Nobody (who used to say that "a man who is a man has to believe in something"), who wants Jack to face the Wild Bunch alone, because such a hero must have a great end?.... A spaghetti western which also tells about important and poetical matters, an unforgettable one. What more can I say?

One of my all-time favorites, and rather hard to find in Europe (odd, as it is countries like Germany where the Italian spaghetti-western genre has enjoyed greatest succes). Inserting the tape into my VCR, I was really looking forward to seeing this gem again after quite a few years, but I was sourly disppointed at the very poor quality of this particular recording. Though there are worse, this was clearly below standard, and I'm surprised it's not been mentioned more often in the reviews below. 5 stars for the film, 2 for the recording

This comedy western is the greatest! A mixture of meaning and rare humor, the end product is a classic. Terrance Hill is unequaled in his portrayal of a young, subtle, free-thinking natural gunman who cares about the legacy of his hero. The bond that builds between the two main characters is that of a dutch uncle who develops a genuine fondness for an unruly nephew. The story line, though a bit cryptic at first, is well worth the extra attention required to expose it. This is a MUST HAVE!

The fastest gun in the west (Henry Fonda) meets a faster gun (Terrence Hill), but they do everything but square off right away. Hill, who stars in "My Name is Trinity" and "My Name is Still Trinity," caps the trilogy with this movie, released as "Il Mio Nome E' Nessumo." Wit and physical humor spice up action that includes the Wild Bunch. Deserves to be in any western film collection!

I saw it again after more than two decades and it was very enjoyable also for my son and husband who had never seen it before. The smooth cut, cinematography and switching from one to the other scene in similar vignets hit me at the time and still works. Of course Ennio Morricone's music tops it all off. Recommend this one whole heartedly and am buying the video now. I don't buy videos that often...
