Product Description

Review

“A self-described ‘rantaholic,’ Rick Mercer is our country’s best-known and most-loved satirist. . . . The use of surprise or the unexpected is a trademark of Mercer’s humour. . . . But once again, beneath his humour, Mercer is seething. . . . You can’t read Mercer’s rants without appreciating that we live in a society where ranting — whether it’s about our government, attitudes toward sexuality, or escalators — is possible. And that, kids, is a good thing.”
The Calgary Herald

About the Author

How can you not love these rants. It's Rick Mercer and no one does it better! Also a great table book,as the rants only take a few minutes to read.

Nobody can rant like Rick.
He doesn't take sides, but tells it like he sees it.
He would liven up the House of Parliament if he were an PM.

I love Rick Mercer and love his rants. This book is just all around awesome! I could literally hear him in every rant. Although I have heard all these rants, I like how he goes in depth for some of them, explaining things from the show and his life. A proud Canadian he is, and I love everything about him. Can't wait for the next book!

This book was really a collection of short stories summarizing various episodes of the Rick Mercer Report. An interesting light read providing Rick's insights into various current events. Very enjoyable.

Among other things, I purchased this book for my boyfriend for Christmas. He had finished reading it by Christmas evening and has recommended it to everyone in his family.

Purchased this as a gift for my dad. His thoughts were:
-Good book with some interesting stories and notes
-Would be best for big fans of Mercer's humour (my dad likes him but is more of a silent and serious guy)
-Provides a funny and interesting outlook on Canada and our political landscape
-Lengthly enough to be engrossing without overwhelming

He enjoyed it enough that I was compelled to purchase one of Mercer's other books for him.

Canada, like Parliament, is not a place but an idea. Mercer's thoughtful rants demonstrate his love of the idea that is Canada, and despair over the failing idea of Parliament. He also tells stories of students, athletes, fishermen and other folks that makes a nice, and hopeful, contrast to the political stuff.

Although you can laugh yourself hoarse, you can also read some very interesting material that will make you think. And perhaps rant yourself.
