HASH(0x9d443ccc) out of 5 stars The Wisdom of the Native American Indians Sept. 25 2012
By Jimmy Madagame - Published on

By now most individuals realize that the history they were taught in school was very one sided and not only biased but sanitized. The view from the Native American perspective has only been made public in the recent past. Even a Native American from different tribes has wondered what was going through the minds of the leaders of tribes being taken advantage of in other parts of the country during the decades of broken treaties or even, as tribal chiefs are quoted in the book, mislead as to what was written in the white mans language as a treaty. Native Americans had not encountered a creature as deceitful, untrustworthy and as destructive as many of the people placed in charge of representing the Federal Govt. This book points out how the Native Americans were mistreated and the great sorrow the Native Chiefs had for trusting their counter parts. Also the heroic deeds by particular individuals are finally on paper for all to know rather than let it all die by relying on oral history alone.

I couldn't believe all the wonderful ancient wisdom that was contained in this book. I sat down with a nice cup of Kava and read the entire book in one sitting. Would recommend to anyone who has lost their wisdom teeth.

"When it comes time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home."

- Chief Aupumut, Mohican. 1725

This is a very interesting book filled with Native American Indian wisdom! A great read on Kindle that you will refer to often.

The author tries to give you an insight to some of the many customs that are being lost by the Native American tribes. This is an insight to but a few of the many tribes that America has.
