By following a few simple rules, you can extend the life of your robot’s batteries. How you take care of the batteries – and how much you use them – affect their longevity. Here are some tips to optimize your battery:
- Charge your robot overnight before using it for the first time.
- Keep Neato on its charge base when not in use – out of sunlight and heat, and on a flat surface.
- Store Neato with the batteries disconnected, or turned off if you will be on vacation or away for a longer period.
- Charge Neato as soon as possible after discharging the batteries.
- Keep Neato’s brushes clean.
- Recalibrate your batteries.
Always use Neato Genuine Accessories.
Please ensure that your replacement batteries, filters, brushes and any other components are Genuine Neato Accessories.
Accessories made by third parties may damage your robot or cause performance issues, and will also void your product warranty.
Getting the most out of your Neato robot
Charge your robot overnight before using it for the first time.
We recommend that you use your Neato frequently to keep it happy and healthy, and you get cleaner floors!
Between cleaning cycles, keep your Neato charging on its charge base.
Maintain your Neato for peak performance by:
- Emptying your dirt bin after every cleaning.
- Tapping your filter against a garbage can to remove excess debris.
- Cleaning your Neato brush after every run to keep the brush debris-free and running smoothly. If debris gathers, don't worry. It's easy to pop the brush out, clean, and put back in robot.

I was a little worried the first time we ran it, because we charged it for 12 hours as suggested, and it only ran for maybe 10 minutes before dying without even attempting to return to the charging station. It charged quickly, and then ran for another 10 minutes and died again, and we had to pick it up and bring it to the charger (which it seems to hate). Both of these times we had to start the "clean house" action again. After this, it would run for maybe 45 minutes, return to the charging station on its own, and then pick up where it left off. It did not miss a single room, and our home does not have an open layout, so that was a big task in itself. The dust bin is surprisingly large.
I'll update this review with more feedback if anything changes, but for now, I am very very happy with this purchase.
It very rarely gets lost. The first floor of my house has 5 rooms and it navigates in them and returns to its base almost every time.
It picks up A LOT more than you would do with a broom or a regular vacuum cleaner.
It is very extremely good at doing all the side and corner as close as possible.
The sound level is reasonable when using the pet and allergy brush, which is the one I refer to when saying it picks up A LOT.
He is impressive (and surprisingly aggressive) at freeing himself when he's stuck and cleaning through a mess of cables.
A table with 4 chairs (we talking 20 legs to navigate around) is absolutely no match for his navigation, he gets every little corner cleaned, work around every single legs tightly and gets out no problem.
It detects "floor drops" very well. Dont be scared, he won't fell down the stairs.
Solid construction, he can take a some accidents.
Cleaning him is very fast. It's pretty much like removing the dust of a dryer. Other than that, you will want to clean his brush every like 20-30 use, which should take about 10 min.
Recharge is quick
The manual says it needs to have 1 meter (3.33 feet) free in a 180 degree angle around its base. For most houses, the only places with that much free space is walking space ... so finding him a spot is really not convenient if you follow the manual. I did that at 1st, but eventually moved it to a much tighter space. He does work, still always cleans everywhere, but about 1 time out of 10, he fails at returning to its base (usually real close though).
The 1 thing Neato can't get un-stuck is it's brush.Read more ›
(compared with Roomba 560)
- Fast and reliable operation (finishes in half the time )
- Navigation algorithms are fare more advanced (they actually exist)
- Vacuum much stronger than any competitor (really :))
- Carpet handling far better (takes out at least twice as much cat hair as competitor)
- No sidebrush: leaves 1-1/2" of dust along edges (this was the reason for my return)
- The blade brush is unusably loud (for the sake of my neighbors below I never used it after testing)
- Sometimes misses parts of the appartment completely (several tight walkways, but about 30% of the time it does not clean the Kitchen. I assume I should have placed the dock closer, but had no good place for it).

It is still going strong. Hates BLACK floors and will get all screwed up and do strange things. Powerful little thing though.Published 1 month ago by Brad
I bought it in 2014, broken in 2015. It cost around $600, but last for only a year. The robot did not do a good clean. Disapointed.Published 3 months ago by Ivy
