Product Description

Sometimes love happens at first sight, even when you’re at an age where you can’t comprehend what it means.

It was just a crush. They were only kids, after all. But what happens when that feeling never goes away?

Brayden and Kira have been neighbors for years, and best friends since they met. They have a connection that is evident to many, and it’s haunted them their whole lives.

Teenage hormones rage, turning their friendship into something neither can handle. The attraction is carnal, all-consuming, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Brayden loses control.

Everything slams to a halt when their single parents decide to get remarried . . . to each other. Bad decisions and broken friendships make living across the hall from the one person you want above all difficult. Luckily for Brayden, it’s only for a few months before he’s off to college in another state, leaving Kira to face high school alone.

Brayden tries to stay away, to forget her, but it’s an impossible task he fails at time and time again. Kira is morphing from a sexy teenager to an irresistible woman, one that knows what she wants and seems hell-bent on getting it.

As Kira’s eighteenth birthday approaches, Brayden has a decision to make. Does he keep running away from the thing he wants the most or does he run toward it?

Is it possible to ever be happy without the one person you need?

"I'm Brayden, baby. The man you've been dreaming about your whole life. And I'm about to fucking show you why."

Need - Part 1 of a 2 part series.

HASH(0xa2e5669c) out of 5 stars Great beginning, interesting middle, drug out ending. March 4 2015
By Unrecoverable ATR - Addicted to reading! - Published on

This book just wasn't for me. I liked the idea of two people who fell in love at a young age. I liked they started as friends. It was fun reading about the friendship of Kiera, Ryan (brother/sister) and the boy next door Brayden. The book starts with their becoming neighbors and friends at the young age of 10 and 7. They were an inseparable bunch. I liked how the two older boys Ryan and Brayden let the younger Keria tag along. Even let her become part of their team.

Eventually as they grow up and get into their teenage years Brayden realizes he has feelings for Kiera. He realizes he is attracted to her and wants her for himself. I liked this - up until the point he started treating her like his standby girl. He made HUGE assumptions that she would just be waiting in the wings when he was ready to commit to her. What???? He could go sow his wild oats, make declarations of wanting her and then crush her heart with his selfish actions. I liked him at first but then just got annoyed with him. He thought he had this magic sexual touch that erased all the crap he threw out at her - both verbally dismissing her, and choosing other women over her. I really felt sorry for this girl. His back and forth - I want her - she is underage I can't - got annoying. Then at the end his constant "you are mine!" began to creep me out. It came across as physco - rather than endearing. And good for her for not backing down.

Additionally, I cannot figure out the book cover. What is with her choking him? It looks a little scary how he has this help me look on his face. I don't judge wether or not to read a book based on covers. I have been burned by great covers and surprised by stupid, cheap, or even silly covers. So, that isn't a deal breaker for me. But I have to say after reading this - it doesn't really fit for me. Thus like the cover doesn't fit the story a lot of the story line didn't fit or flow in a way that made me like these people or even root for them.

I won't read this second book because this book seemed whyyyyyy tooooo drawn out for me. Nothing really new happend and it rambled on and on for me. I didn't connect with the characters enough to be invested in reading anymore in this series. I give this one star for the sweet beginning, one star for the somewhat chemistry before Brayden became a jerk, and then one star because I finished it. I just lost interest and lost respect for the main chartacters. Read my other reviews to see if we have similar likes/dislikes. This is merely my opinion.

HASH(0xa2e5690c) out of 5 stars Honest Review March 8 2015
By Romance Readers Retreat - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I'll be honest with you. I've been avoiding all the "stepbrother" books that seem to be glutting the erotic romance market lately. Being a stepbrother myself, I guess I find them a bit creepy. Even though there is no blood between me and my stepsister, the very idea of a relationship with her reeks of incest anyway. So I took on this book with a bit of trepidation. However, I'm glad I took a chance on it.

The book is well written, no obvious flaws in terms of execution. The story had me from the beginning. A young man, Brayden, has a new family move in next door. He finds that he is instant friends with Ryan, a boy about his own age, a friendship that will last a lifetime. His little sister, Kira is another thing.

Kira is only 7 years old when they first meet, and Brayden is only 10, but they hit it off right away. There is a chemistry there that neither really understands, all they know is they like spending time together. Their friendship is real and only grows deeper as they grow up together.

Of course, years later they begin to feel other urges, urges they cannot understand, but urges they are finding harder and harder to ignore. Everything begins to fall apart when Brayden's mother and father get divorced, and it's revealed that Kira's mother and Brayden's father are getting married, thereby making Brayden and Kira stepbrother and stepsister.

By this time, Brayden is 17 and Kira is 14. Being older, Brayden takes it upon himself to put a stop to any kind of intimate relationship between the two of them. He pushes her away, even though it kills him to do so. The idea of their family or friends finding out is terrifying to him. Kira doesn't really understand, and is terribly hurt by all this.

I got a bit frustrated at times because every time it looked like they might figure this out, Brayden does something stupid to separate them again. He is doing it for all the right reasons, but his one night stands are tearing poor Kira apart. The "will they or won't they" got a bit old, even though I totally understood why it was happening.

The next, and final, book in this series is called Take and is due to be published later this year. I have a feeling the "will they or won't they" will finally come to an end in that book. I can't wait to see how they wrap up their story.

HASH(0xa2e56b4c) out of 5 stars There isn’t much I love more than a good forbidden love story Feb. 28 2015
By Christy Baldwin BBU - Published on
Format: Paperback
There isn’t much I love more than a good forbidden love story. Add in the fact that this is cowritten by one of my favorite authors (so I knew it would be crazy hot) just makes it that much better. I have been highly anticipating Need since I first heard of it’s release. I’m happy to report it did not disappoint. Angsty, steamy, emotional and just a bit taboo with a fantastic dirty talker. Yes, this was a total win for me.

Kira and Brayden are neighbors and Brayden has been best friends with Kira’s older brother Ryan and Kira since they were kids. As they get older, they start to fall for one another. That attraction is there, but it’s more than that. Just as they are starting to realize their feelings, something huge happens that changes everything. Their parents announce that they’re getting married, which will make them step-siblings.

It’s such a hard thing for them both. Neither of their feelings just go away, but how can they act on them? They can’t really be together. So when Brayden goes to college, he hopes the distance will help. Maybe he can just stay away and eventually things can go back to normal. They can go back to just being friends and fight the need they feel towards one another. It breaks Brayden being away from Kira, and Kira is hurting just as much.

Every time they are near each other, the need comes back full force. Time and distance does nothing to quench it.

This back and forth with Brayden and Kira broke my heart. I hurt reading their story. Every time Brayden comes home, you just feel the connection they share and there isn't’ much they can do about it. For both of them, the next two years is brutal. Trying to fight your feelings and stay away from the one you love is not an easy task. Brayden tries to make things easier for them, but it ends up hurting them both in the process. It’s a story of hurt. Of being heartbroken. Of wanting, and needing, but not ever being able to have.

But you can only deny yourself and what you want for so long. There comes a breaking point…

Brayden is the type of hero I love and always hope for in a book. He’s broken, damaged, imperfect and just a mess. He made bad decisions, but I believe that his heart was always in the right place. His bad choices came from a good place so I could over look anything he did wrong. And his dirty mouth… gah. I love it!

Kira grew strength as the story progressed and I loved that she has a backbone. As a teenager in love for the first time, it’s easy to have a tender heart and be walked all over. But those few years yearning for Brayden and getting her heart broken over and over changed her. I’m anxious to see how her character develops in the next book.

Need is one of those books you should read when you have a clear schedule and can just sit down and devour it. I read it cover to cover with no breaks. I can’t imagine stopping once you start. You will become addicted to this story and need to know whats happening. The ending is a bit of a cliffy, but the sneak peak into the next book at the end made me okay with that. Regardless, I’m hoping the next book comes out sooner rather than later because I’m dying to know what happens with these two!

If you like to feel when you read, if you enjoy some angst, forbidden love, and a sexy, damaged and dirty talking hero- then this is the book for you. I highly recommend.

HASH(0xa2e56da4) out of 5 stars So, this book... April 23 2015
By Stacy B. - Published on
Format: Paperback
Meh. Doesn't get much more basic NA than this. There was nothing original about this book except oh, [*****mini-spoiler, not really*****] let's make a big deal out of the fact that they became step-siblings a couple months before he goes off to college. [*****end not really spoiler*****]

*****Actual spoilers***** They never even have sex. There is no real sex in this book. And they don't live in the same house for more than a few months, and that potential tension isn't used in the book. Major wasted opportunity.*****End spoilers*****

So, it's just another NA romance. Blah. And repetitive. Jesus. At first it's okay because it builds sexual tension. Then you're just like SERIOUSLY. I ended up skimming and I loathe skimming. But SERIOUSLY.

It was just...the same old NA story beaten to death. And beaten and beaten and beaten some more.

OH! And one of the major premises was that the H and h couldn't have sex because she was under age and he was 18 so it was illegal. Except that's not the law in any state I'm familiar with. 18 isn't even the age of consent in every state. And it's a HUGE deal in the book that they keep beating like a dead horse and it's WRONG.

I couldn't ride this fun train. It's unoriginal, repetitive, and not even based in reality. Boring and utterly meh. I'll be back to looking for books with real plots, for sure.

HASH(0xa30740b4) out of 5 stars 5 brilliant, angsty, dramatic, HOT stars!!!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES!!! <3 Aug. 23 2015

This stepbrother/best friend romance was incredible! The chemistry between Kira and Brayden was off the charts SEXY. I loved how they knew each other since they were 7 and 10 respectively. I loved their friendship which grew into a short-lived relationship...

The whole step-sibling thing... I honestly didn't understand it. It drove me crazy. I mean - why can't you have a relationship with someone who's your step-sibling? It's not incestuous. There's no genetic issues... I guess it's just looked down upon by social norms?
Also, the 3 year age gap between Kira and Brayden, in conjunction with the fact that they used to be best friends, helps justify Brayden's intense alpha-male possessiveness over Kira. In case there are those of you who don't like overly possessive males who are possessive for silly or nonexistent reasons - that is not the case with Need. Me? I think possessiveness is freaking hot lol.

Anyway, Brayden was SUPERRRR SEXY. Alpha. Possessive. Hungry. Intense. And I loved him. But.....There were many times in this novel that I wanted to punch him in the face or hit his head with a frying pan to knock some sense into him. Not only was he a major player who had his way with many girls/women, he had the nerve and ego to tell Kira that she was HIS... Yeah, right. @_@ He had no right to stake a claim when he'd already staked 100 claims... Of course, he could always PROVE that she was indeed his... But his actions spoke otherwise. I hated that he kept giving Kira false hopes and then running away, shutting her out, giving her the silent treatment for months at a time. He let her in, and then he slammed the door in her face, time and time again. Poor Kira. Poor girl. I really liked Kira. Sassy, intelligent, independent, strong girl/woman. I felt so bad that she kept getting knocked back and forth by Brayden's hot and cold attitude. (Reminded me of Katy Perry's song "Hot N Cold"). I understand Brayden felt guilty about pursuing a sexual relationship with his step-sister, but I wish he would've just made up his mind. (Course, that wouldn't have made for nearly as amazing a book or interesting a plot. lol. I'm telling you; angst makes a story.) He just betrayed Kira and broke her heart so many times. I was able to understand and forgive him the first five times, even when he f*cked another girl... But there was a certain point in the book - a certain thing that happened - that caused me to snap. Caused me to start feeling intense hatred toward Brayden for putting the girl he claimed he loved in so much pain.

Of course, Brayden was super sexy throughout the entire book. But after that certain event I mentioned, I found it a little more difficult to believe in the sincerity of his words and actions. Sex and passionate scenes weren't as hot or meaningful, simply because my faith in him was greatly lessened and I was so pissed at him for the pain he caused Kira. I had reached the end of my patience with him. I understand why he did what he did, but it didn't make it right. He just vacillated so d*mn much, it drove me pretty much insane. He was a good character, very hot, and a good guy and caring friend... But... He totally could have handled things better and more maturely with Kira.

I like that Kira didn't take him back right away and was pissed at him and almost ready to give up on them. Her reactions made sense, unlike some heroines in other books, who are weak doormats, ready to take back someone in a heartbeat even if he's stomped on their heart countless times. I like that Kira was determined and strong-willed - not willing to be trod upon or thrown out like a piece of garbage. She had dignity and wanted to be treated right. She didn't welcome Brayden back into her life with smiles and open arms. He had to re-earn her trust and rebuild their friendship. Brayden did end up redeeming himself, which is awesome. He started to grow on me again. I guess I just wanted him to hurt - to feel intense pain and misery and reflect upon all the hurt he caused others. I WANTED him to know that someone else took Kira's virginity - NOT him. I wanted him to get punched in the nose and have his nose broken by Ryan. I WANTED Kira to reject him and refuse to accept his apologies. He needed to work towards what he wanted instead of just EXPECTING Kira to be there at a moment's notice once HE was ready to accept their relationship. SHE had already been waiting so many years for him to notice her, so it made sense that he should have to do the same. He overlooked his chance with Kira the first time, and so likewise should be forced to wait and not know whether or not she'd take him back. He deserved to experience all of the uncertainty and pain that Kira went through when she was pining after him. Serves him right. But after all of this stuff, I felt like he redeemed his character and I liked him just as much as I did before all the stuff went down with Kira & the marriage.

Regardless of Brayden's insane indecisiveness, this book was amazing! The love scenes were fantastic and extremellllyyy hot. The hero, heroine, and side characters were great. The story/plot was great.
I LOVEEE childhood friendships that bloom into romances, and that is what this book is... And there's PLENTY of sexual tension, too lol. TONS. And lots of drama, angst, tears, heartbreak, betrayal, and many times when you want to punch Brayden in the face or throw your book or E-reader or phone across the room.

5 brilliant, angsty, dramatic, HOT stars!!!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES!!! <3333

Of course, Brayden and Kira still have a lot to work on. Kira still doesn't fully trust Brayden and doesn't want to let him back into her heart. She knows from experience that he says one thing and does another. She doesn't want to experience all the pain she went through before. So in the next book, HOPEFULLY Brayden will be able to prove his love for Kira and they will have a HEA and restore their friendship and trust. <33 :)
