I've been using these off and on for a few months and am quite pleasantly surprised. I can't comment on their intended use as light stands, but these make wonderful stands for the HTC Vive sensors.
First the good: They can be made taller than the reported height if you slide the base right up underneath the area where the 3 legs meet while extending each telescopic section to it's fullest. It's super light weight but not too flimsy, and sturdy standing on its own. I wouldn't recommend heavy or off-centered weighted equipment as the leg base doesn't really have a wide center of gravity.
Now the bad: Other than it being light-weight, which isn't a bad thing, the quality is okay. The tubes look like they could dent or bend if knocked around or transported incorrectly. The only other gripe is the stopping screw, which you can see in the picture attached. They were smashed into the plastic stop. The plastic is cheap (as expected for the price). But also the screw snapped under the pressure. I assume this was unfortunately done during transport from factory, not Amazon Fulfillment. The inner most tube was jammed down and the screw head and plastic gave way. Might not be on all orders, but keep in mind it may happen more often than expected. I just fabricated a plastic ring in which I Gorilla glued in place of the screws. Purpose served.
Other than the screw issue these have served their purpose as lighting mounts for my light-weight LED panels.
Also note - there are multiple sellers carrying these under different product names. Don't buy the overpriced version of the same thing.
The stance of these tripods can be reduced by pulling the pole so the bottom of the pole is pretty much where the base of the tripod legs starts.
