Neptune's Harvest Organic Crab Shell is an excellent dry organic source of NPK, Calcium (23-percent) and Magnesium (1.33-percent). It will also help with nematode and fungus problems. Here's why: Crab Shell is high in Chitin (Kite-en), which promotes the growth of Chitin eating bacteria in the soil. The exoskeletons of fungus and nematode eggs are high in chitin. Crab Shell when added to the soil helps to create a hostile environment for the fungus and nematodes by feeding the biological life that eats chitin and chitin based organisms. Crab Shell should be applied in the same way we recommend our Kelp Meal to be applied.

Container plants need good holistic fertilizing that incorporates all of the range of nature's nutrients. This is a great way to add more than simple high-nitrogen to your organic garden.
Yes, this is real ground-up crabshells so there is a fishy smell. If you don't want it to linger on your hands, wear gloves when applying. There will be a fishy smell around your plants too, but that will entirely dissipate in a day or two.
After doing Google searches on the benefits of crab shells, and the fact that I may have symptoms of bad veggie garden nematodes and other unwanted vermin, I decided to give this a try. But with winter coming, I won't be able to verify these work for several more months.
This product is definitely not for indoor use as the product does smell like dried crab shells.
Since this bag will cover about 80% of my raised bed area, I think over the winter I will be buying and cooking a lot of crabs and add their endoskeletons to my compost bin.
