I wish I had this cable tester years ago when I was making more of these cables. I used to verify the connections with a couple of fine tip probes and a multimeter, and only if I had problems after installation. Although there doesn't seem to be much to it, the cable tester positively verifies which connections got crossed, shorted, or open. I would recommend at least this level of cable tester for anybody making these cables. It is a great time saver.
The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because the 50 connectors that come with it are poor quality. They are for stranded cable only and the clip is so poorly designed that it doesn't hold the connector into the receptacle very well. This is a very common problem with cheap connectors. In other words, don't buy this for the included connectors. This tool is easily worth the price without the connectors anyway. I went out and bought some RJ45 connectors that are made for solid cables. Once I used those, everything fit and stayed together just fine.
This product was cheap, and it got delivered relatively fast.

The rj45 ends are crappy. Retention tabs don't really lock in well.Published 11 months ago by Chupacabra519
