Product Description

…If a kickass middle-aged bookkeeper got sucked into a spy’s life…

Despite her penchant for weapons and ripe language, Aydan Kelly’s resumé reads ‘bookkeeper’, not ‘badass’. She’s leaving the city to fulfill her dream of rural tranquillity when she gets carjacked by a man who shouldn’t exist.

When RCMP officer John Kane kills her would-be abductor, Aydan thinks her troubles are over. But Kane’s investigation implicates her in an international espionage plot, and criminal charges become the least of her worries when she’s targeted by the very spies Kane suspects her of aiding.

Pity her enemies. Because nobody’s tougher than a middle-aged woman who wants her dream back.

Contains coarse language, moderate violence, and sexuality. The story can stand alone but will be more enjoyable if read in order.

If Janet Evanovich’s quirky humour met Robert Ludlum’s taut thrillers, the Never Say Spy series would be their love child: racy, fun, and action-packed!

The language and grammar are excellent. By far, one of the best edited books I have read since I joined Amazon. And the best part: It is written by a Canadian with Canadian content. Loved it.
Aydan is an unlikely hero; she is a bookkeeper in her 40's. However, she has a foul mouth, is tough as nails, in great shape, can shoot, capable of carpentry, and good at everything that would make a great spy. So, when chance lands her in the middle of some highly classified government stuff, it is really hard for her to prove that she is not a spy. A look into her history shows exactly why. The plot is so jam packed and fast paced that there is no time for your attention to wander. It was a pleasure to read a book that was not chuck full of page fillers. The intimate parts were tasteful, and I loved the fact that she could banter with men and not be a simpering miss. Overall, a great read. Buy it and enjoy.

Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. Fast action, real characters, pithy, and humorous, all rolled up in a Canadian Prairie setting. I loved it and can't wait to read her next book.

I couldn't believe this main character. A fortyish female bookkeeper can beat up a fit guy twice her weight, shoot to kill, run and leap over tall fences, and escape from way too many perilous situations. Really? Are you kidding me? And it's not just the physical stuff. She doesn't ask the right questions, like, 'What the hell's going on here? Why am I being car-jacked? Who is this guy who's following me?" She never seems to be scared. She just prepares for the worst as if it's an everyday occurrence. - Oh, my security system isn't working so I'll set up some warning systems and figure out how to escape from my third-floor bedroom. No problem. Do it every day. Ho hum. My nose is bleeding, I have bruises all over me, I'm back in the hospital, but hey, it's okay, don't worry about me I'm the bookkeeper from Krypton or something. Hit me again, I can take it.
The writing is good, the plot is interesting, the people are just not believeable. I'm a woman, I have an idea how women think. I seriously have to wonder if Diane Henders is actually a female. Nobody in this book has any realistic emotional reaction to anything.

All the normal superlatives apply. Great characters, great writing.
An added bonus, there were no spelling or grammatical mistakes. This may seem petty, but it was nice to not be constantly correcting in my mind while reading.
I could not put this book down.
Liked it so much I immediately bought the next two books in the series.

I gave it a 5 because I was very surprised at how fast you get into the story. At the beginning I thought that this would be a long read but it was very very good. The characters are all very interesting and involved in the scheme of things. Can't wait to read book 2.

I loved this book! It's fun, funny, and fast-paced with lots of twists in plot and characters. The writing is good and I was drawn into the story immediately. I have read book 2 already and am working my way through the rest of the series!

The story grabs you right from the getgo and you're immediately into the meat of the book. Well edited (more than just spell check) with few expletives. Some sexuality, but nothing really obtrusive. In other words, a book that depends entirely on a good story. So, herein you've just lucked out. This is one great yarn that you can see in your mind as you read. It's that good. The heroine is tall, red haired, tough as nails, and above all, sensible and sensitive. You're going to love her. Especially since she has weaknesses and makes mistakes - on occasion. The author's really done an excellent job here. Shame on you if you pass on this book. SO ENJOY!!!

A very interesting book one that I truly enjoyed. I have since bought the second and the third book in this series. The writing style is just what I needed when I started into a different genre.
