This was my go-to-guide as I started a garden centre and grew everything from seed the first year. Has everything you want to know about planning and planting a garden from scratch. Highly recommended. Concise and handy, and full of useful information.

HASH(0x9e4c6b64) out of 5 stars Handsome & Informative Jan. 17 2014
By W. Laine - Published on Amazon.com

Living in west-central Wisconsin, I sought a gardening book for the northern U. S.. However, this book is aimed at Canada. The table of frost dates contains only Canadian locations, & most of the nurseries listed are in Canada. The hardiness zone map does include the U. S.. Otherwise, the information on growing vegetables, flowers & herbs should apply to the northern U. S.. A chapter is devoted to each of the three groups, & listed in alphabetical order, each plant is easy to find. Trees, shrubs & fruits are not included.
The copy I received is like new & cheap in price.

I've had this book for a few years now (slow to write my reviews) and I really love it. The information is very handy, although I wouldn't go so far as to say it is the only gardening book you'll need. It has helped me choose flowers to grow and gives me some of the basic information I need when making plant choices.

This is an informative book. The only hesitation I have is that this book is much more about flowers than vegetables.
