Product Description

Imagine the worst day of your life. Immerse yourself in the details. How did you feel? Who were you with? What were the consequences?

Recalling my darkest day is as simple as typing a few search terms into a web browser. It only took thirty minutes for me to become the center of a media frenzy that caught the attention of an entire country.

So I hid.

Nine months later and I'm getting better. Moved two hours from home, landed my dream job, and met a delicious new guy.

Healing is that simple, right?

Note: New Point is the start of a standalone series with connected characters, but independent story lines.

HASH(0xa17026cc) out of 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆ 4.5 New Beginnings Stars☆☆☆☆☆ Sept. 14 2014

Format: Kindle Edition
Shattered. Broken. What is left when the life and world you once knew comes crashing down when a tragic event leaves you traumatized? For Zoe Baker, nine months ago she was a happy carefree woman living without fear but in an instant her world changed. The safety and comfort she once knew was stolen. Fast forward to the present, Zoe tries to begin anew. A new life. A new beginning. A second chance to start over. A NEW POINT.

When Zoe Baker moved to New Point, it was her fresh start. Goodbye old life, hello new beginnings. The comfort of knowing that no one knew her past and secrets is what Zoe craved. She doesn’t want pity and recognition. She just wants to be normal. So when she meets sexy new neighbor, Miles Wilson, Zoe finally begins to feel. New feelings begins to emerge. Slowly Miles was able to breathe life into Zoe. Happiness begins to surface. Miles was Zoe’s fresh new start and hope. She found comfort and safety in Miles. As the couple begins to get serious, will Zoe be fully able to let go and let Miles in? Will she finally able to reveal her secrets and past? Or will Zoe’s fears push Miles away? Or will they reach a NEW POINT in their relationship?

Olivia Luck did an amazing job in New Point. She took her readers on a journey of a woman rediscovering her strength that she once thought she lost. It is a story of rebuilding your life and picking up the broken pieces. The journey may not be easy but with the help from family and friends, it can be done. Ms. Luck reminds her readers to not be afraid to get help even if it means getting therapy. A fresh new start begins taking the first step and for Zoe Baker, she did just that. So if you are looking for book that incorporates romance and second chances, then go read NEW POINT.

HASH(0xa1702720) out of 5 stars I wished I enjoyed it more. Someone else might love this though Oct. 3 2014

**Complimentary copy provided by the author/publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

2.5 stars

I was really interested in reading this at first but I just wasn't feeling it half the time. It started out really good but then it just seemed to annoy me, honestly.

Zoe was a hard character to like because she was kind of all over the place ever since a traumatic event happened months ago. But her behavior is understandable at times because some people truly do get terrified after having a gun pointed at you. What got to me was her wanting honesty from people yet she's keeping a big secret from everyone else. She came off as a hypocrite.

Blake, her brother, was a nice addition to the story though. He cares for her and is protective. I would have liked seeing more of him.

Miles saved the book for me after he was (acting like a child) seeing red for a scene in the book. He was super sweet and I liked him. Especially the messages he leaves in the sand for Zoe. One problem I can't get over is that I didn't know how old he was until some time passed. I'm pretty sure he's 29. And I think Zoe is twenty-four. I'm not so sure on Blake. The ages weren't really detailed or I'm just an idiot and didn't get it but I think he's ten years older than Zoe.

I don't know. I wish I could have enjoyed it more. It has a lot of promise. The beginning was really good so maybe someone else will like this.

It is a standalone novel but the first in a series that will focus on other connecting couples.

HASH(0xa1702b58) out of 5 stars A so-so read Sept. 10 2014

*** Disclaimer: Although I receive free copies from authors/publishers, all opinions and thoughts are my own. I am not paid or swayed to write a positive/negative review. All books reviewed are ones I choose to review because they spark an interest. No book is going to have only 5 star reviews, nor have all 1 stars. Everyone has their own opinions and my reviews express mine. ***

The synopsis of this book really grabbed me when I first saw it, and I could not wait to dive in. This book has been getting LOTS of praise from MANY reviewers on goodreads, however, it fell a bit short for me. I didn't hate it, but I just didn't love it either. I had a hard time connecting with the characters and found myself kinda bored sometimes. It wasn't to where I couldn't read on, but it wasn't hard to put down to accomplish mom duties either. When I started reading it, it just seemed so familiar but I couldn't think of what to compare it to.

Those who have read my reviews know that I don't really like insta-love. There is definately insta-love from both Zoe and Miles, although they slowly build a friendship. It seemed kinda contradictory at times. I just feel if someone is truely traumatized it would take a bit more than a one time meeting to feel so much for a person. BUT I seem to be the only one to think that because it is a highly praised read.

I do like reading about someone's life that changes and grows into what it should be, and that's what kept me reading. I really liked the idea of this book. Her traumatizing life event fell a bit short to me, but honestly I'm not sure how I would come out of any event like that.

I hate not loving a book or even hating it, but this one was neither, it was just ok to me. I would never bash an author, and HATE when people do because this is there work and they put a lot of themselves in everything they write, so I hope no one takes my review in that regard.

HASH(0xa1702f18) out of 5 stars Starting Over and Finding LOVE Sept. 29 2014
By LadyDestinyRose - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Zoe hopes that moving to New Point will help her escape the violent past. She's excited to start over. She never expected to meet a man like Miles, but from the very beginning the attraction between them was strong. Its new and different. They both realize what they have together is special. I loved when he started writing messages to her in the sand. It was so romantic and cute.

Zoe and Miles struggle with trust issues. She tries to keep him from learning about the madman in Chicago that she dealt with. She wants a clean slate, but she is still having nightmares and anxiety attacks. He wants her to trust him, to talk to him about things, but she can't. When the past comes back and finds her in New Point, Zoe's life is on the line again. She is an extremely courageous woman.

This book was about second chances, starting over, and learning to trust. Very well written with deep emotions and lovable characters. I am looking forward to the next book!

I love a strong female lead in a story and although Zoe thinks she is this frightened mouse she is truly a fearless just takes the right people and circumstances to show her. By moving to New Point, Zoe is able to destroy the demons that plague her from one of the worst days of her life.

"One day was all it took to alter my life irrecoverably. It only took thirty minutes for the confident, independent young woman I was to be morphed into an unfamiliar shade of herself- a victim."

From literally the first day in New Point, she is on the road to recovery due to one handsome and romantic neighbor. Miles has every single quality Zoe wants in a man and to top it all, he is totally infatuated by her from the minute he sets eyes and his arms around her. As their relationship grows, he sees she has some dark place hidden inside and he can't seem to understand why she won't share it with him, even when he has shared his life and family with her. What is this secret?

Zoe has so much support between her brother Blake, who has been her champion since her parents were killed in a car crash and her newest friend and "therapist", Etta... who just happens to be Miles' sister, so why can't she figure out that telling Miles her secret can only be good for her?

Will her secret tear apart this relationship too soon or will nasty ex-girlfriends and nosey reporters do it? Can Zoe's past come back to haunt her?

Olivia Luck does a great job connecting us to Zoe and her emotions. You can't help but go there to that place she finds in those dark moments and feel her fear. Olivia also does all the light moments perfectly...little Duke and Alexa are so cute and I have to say Miles' messages in the sand made my heart flutter.

So excited to dive right into Pressure Point and will hopefully see a lot more of Zoe and Miles and what their future holds. Blake has me flustered already so it should be interesting!!
