Product Description

With the abundance of conflicting advice out there, it's easy to see why people struggle with dieting. Dieters want clarity. Women's Health contributing editor and author of The O2 Diet and The Slim Calm Sexy Diet Keri Glassman gives readers the be-all-end-all: 8 simple rules to lose the weight for good.

While what we eat is very important (and The New You and Improved Diet includes a step-by-step, 8-week meal plan, full of real foods that are nutrient dense and antioxidant rich)-that's just one part of a successful weight-loss strategy. Keri walks readers through the other all-important rules to get stronger, calmer, healthier, more balanced and yes, thinner.

Each rule is connected to and supports the others. The more you sleep, the more energy you have at the gym, the more weight you lose. Using common-sense wisdom and easy, practical application, The New You and Improved Diet shows you how to make connections between these rules to totally reset your body's compass. Including a cleanse to jumpstart the diet, detailed menus, recipes, and tons of simple tips to stay on track, Keri walks readers through the only 8 rules they'll ever need to know to find their best body ever.

So far, I'm only a few chapters in however this book has been really informative and helpful. Easy to read and understand, not in a "medical" language that isn't easy to follow.

HASH(0x9fff9534) out of 5 stars Simple to implement and just what I've been looking for Jan. 9 2013

I ordered this book after watching an interview with the author on the Today Show. I like her approach a lot. It's simple and healthy. She explains a lot of the science behind the foods she includes in the meal plans and the other key factors such as breathing/meditation, sleep, exercise, etc. The basis is the same as many other books on eating healthy, but it's presented in a way that makes it easy to implement. The recipes sound good and simple to make.

The food plans and principles are so easy to follow that I finished the book in one day and am ready to start the plan immediately.

HASH(0x9fe12708) out of 5 stars waste of money and space Feb. 20 2013
By Bella's Mommy - Published on

This book was a disappointment. I felt that the points covered in this book could have been more effectively and efficiently presented in a few pages, at most. The ideas are useful, but the majority of the book seemed like filler. I would not recommend this book. If the author was not writing this as a profit-driven endeavor, but a health-drive, this information could easily be placed on a blog or other publicly accessible place. However, I do not really see any other way to make money off of essentially repeating 8 diet related ideas, without filling some space with filler and calling it a book. Do a google search on this book and you can find the 8 concepts and read a bit about each individually.

HASH(0x9ffd1990) out of 5 stars Best book EVER!! Jan. 17 2013

THANK YOU Keri Glassman!!!! I have over 40 diet and exercise books (none of them worked). Many of these books were so boring or hard to follow that I have never got past chapter two. So I was very reluctant to get another. But after seeing you "again" on The Talk, I decided to try. I got my book in the mail a few days ago and read the entire book. So easy to follow, great tips that I started on before I even started the diet plan. Just the breathing alone made me feel wonderful. I found I was even walking taller after doing it. Plus I started the food tips right away since I had most of the items in the house already. I can not say thank you enough, Finally a plan that works. I feel so empowered and so looking forward to the "NEW ME".

HASH(0xa39ec378) out of 5 stars Buy it if you think it might help May 30 2014

A lot of this book contains stuff we already know. The most helpful part of the book that I enjoyed concerned remembering to BREATH and MEDITATE. That really does help in lot of different instances. Otherwise, i really didn't learn anything new, and the diets recommended seemed more like starvations plans. I couldn't imagine eating so little food at one time. Maybe this would work for some people, but I'm a growing girl and I like to eat.

HASH(0xa0419e88) out of 5 stars Hard but worth it. I lost 30 pounds. Feb. 4 2015
By Lisa M. Harder - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Two years ago, five months after having my second baby, I followed the diet plan in this book, and lost 30 pounds. I went from 213lbs to 173lbs. Today, five months after having my third baby, I'm back on it. It is hard as I love eating, but it's worth it. Being pregnant, I got into the habit of eating as much as I wanted, which followed me right into the holiday season. This diet helped me get out of that habit and back to eating normally and healthfully. I felt better physically and emotionally, which is especially important for a mother of three small children.
The first four days are the hardest, eating one whole egg plus two whites scrambled for breakfast, a lunch of spinach salad with 1/2 cup lentils and a hard-boiled egg, salmon spinach salad with 1/4 avocado for dinner, then an apple and 1/2 cup artichoke hearts for snacks. It's not bad, just not very much and I was pretty hungry. My body got used to a smaller amount of food after a few days, and after the first week the meal plan was much more varied and offered a larger amount to eat. The most helpful part for me was that every meal and snack for every day of the eight weeks is completely planned out, so there isn't much you have to think about. You can just focus on your life, kids, and getting healthier. Like I said, it is hard at first, but totally worth it.
