Product Description

Baseball's biggest player is about to get played.

I love women and women love me.
It's not my fault I'm irresistible. Okay, I may be a little cocky too.
All I have to do is post a picture of myself shirtless with my cat, Snickers, and the women flock to me.
It probably helps that I'm good with my bat and balls.

A selfie, a smile, and I have them in bed--but never in a relationship.
Until Carrie entered the game.

She may not know it, but she owns me. And I'm not letting her go.

I'm a professional. No, not THAT kind of professional.
I'm an orthopedic physician for the St. Pete Mantas and my job is everything.
I love the game and I love my players ... but I never fall in love with any of them.
Especially not players like Wes. Especially Wes.

He thinks life is one big game.
One sexy, romantic, and sometimes sweet, game that's left me confused and little bit worried...
I may have actually fallen for the ultimate player.

I'll have to beat him at his own game if I have any shot at walking away with my heart intact.

*A sexy standalone romance set in the world of The Storm Inside

4.0 out of 5 stars What happens in Vegas.... June 29 2017
By Alecia @ The Staircase Reader - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I loved this novel!

Whats not to love about a hot as hell man who is infatuated with a cat! What happens in Vegas, doesn’t always stay in Vegas. Yep this is that type of novel! I really enjoyed the little twist this book gives off. I’m so used to reading (especially in the ‘Vegas’ trope” about the bad boy getting drunk and marrying a good girl.

Wes is a playboy with a goofy side and a heart of gold. He has the usual bad boy streak but…he’s finally met his match.

Carrie is the EXACT female version of Wes!

Carrie is scared of commitment but also values it. She was taught at a young age that marriage changes everything for the worse. She has viewed marriage in a traditional sense. The woman stays home and cleans and cooks while raising the kids. Carrie is very independent and her parents (mother especially) hate that side of her. Carrie has busted her ass to become a well-known surgeon and she isn’t about to give that up due to a little pressuring from mommy dearest.

When Carrie and Wes wake up after their mutual friends wedding in Vegas, they are shocked to find rings on their fingers and a piece of paper declaring they are married, Carrie freaks out. Wes however, is determined to see this through and will fight to keep the only woman he has ever loved as his wife.

This is book six in a series. I unfortunately didn’t know that at the time I requested this arc….BUT GOOD NEWS….this can totally be read as a standalone! I am intrigued by some of the secondary characters and plan on reading the series…..Eventually.

One major drawback for me and the only reason I dropped a star, was the fact that this novel jumps around from Past to Present….a lot. I felt it could have been easily written in a timeline form instead of jumping back and forth.

Overall, I loved the hell out of Wes. I loved his playful goofy side and the fact that he had mad love for his cat Snickers. I loved how he was willing to change and I especially loved the transformation he made between letting go of his playboy side and becoming more of a husband type. I loved Carrie’s independent nature, and how she refused to bend to everyone. She is stubborn and feisty. The two characters blended well together!

This is book six in the in The Storm Inside series, though can be read as a standalone.
Alexis Anne is a new author to me. I wanted to read this book because you don't get this often. A professional. She's a doctor and he is a baseball player. The book is written well but I seriously had a hard time engaging with it. It was a bit slow for me. Don’t get me wrong there isn’t anything per say wrong with it just slow. Then it picked up and I loved Wes and his determination. I am pleased I stuck with it.

Carrie and Wes wake up in Vegas married. These two people are likable and I really enjoyed getting to know Cassie and Wes. I adored Wes, so let’s meet them.

as I said previously Carrie is an orthopedic physician. She is strong, smart, confident and beautiful. She has her life together and isn’t out to land herself a man like her mother wants her too. Wes is a professional baseball player and is a player, he loves his social media and he loves Carrie and has for a while. He is determined and has his mind made up. He wants Carrie and he wants the marriage to work. Now he has to convince Carrie and it is not going to be easy. She is afraid of having her heart stomped on. He doesn't have a lot of time to prove it either.

I loved the banter and the relationship they had. I love the secondary characters, especially Zoe. I loved their friends and the unconditional support. Wes needs all that he can get. The chemistry between Wes and Carrie is hot and combustible. You will find yourself laughing and rooting for them both. You will see both sides of the coin and why Carrie is reluctant.

This is told from both Wes and Carrie’s point of view and flips from the past to present. Wes is actually the key to making me love this book. He will do whatever it takes to make Carrie his and to stay his. Again, I can’t say enough how much loved this man. I loved their friends as well. Carrie’s mom not so much.

Join Wes and Carrie and see if everything that happens in Vegas can come home with them.

Night Games was a different book than I was expecting. It is told in dual POV, Carrie's storyline is told 6 weeks in the past & Wes' storyline is told in present time. Although, you have alternating time frames the book is seamless and has a nice flow to it. Night Games is part of "The Storm Inside" series but, can be read as a standalone.

Dr. Carrie Anne Walker is a Orthopedic Surgeon and married to her job, she left home at 18 and hasn't looked back. She is definitely more bark than bite and keeps herself guarded because when she lets someone in she loves with her whole heart. Marriage is sacred to her even though she didn't have good role models growing up. She marches to the beat of her own drum. She is a runner, meaning she runs from her problems/emotions when things start to get to intimate.

Wesley "Wes" Allen is a celebrity baseball catcher that is well known for his player ways, his instagram post with his cat, and his quirky youtube channel. He is the ultimate flirt! Wes grew up in a household where his parents were completely in love and that has stayed with him through adulthood. He wants to find that forever love that is all encompassing!

Night Games is about letting your guard down and realizing what is right in front of you. Wes and Carrie are cut from the same cloth and don't want commitment. So, how do you prove to the girl you love that you are worth taking a chance on? You have to prove to that gorgeous guarded girl that you really do love her and nothing comes before her & you aren't the guy she thinks you are. When you find the person that loves you for who you are and doesn't want to change a thing about you...that is the person that you need to hold onto and never let go. This was an emotional eye opening journey for both character and it was a light hearted read.
3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Writing Style Not a Fan of the Heroine June 29 2017

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is #6 in the series and I have never read this author before. This book is supposed to stand alone but at times I felt very lost in the story. I would definitely read #5 Summer Heat (LINK) before this story because many, many scenes run concurrent with that book and the previous couples story in Summer Heat left me at times lost.

This book also goes back and forth a lot. This is not my favorite way for authors to tell a story. Most times I ignore the back in time scenes but in this story it really was a huge part of the story so I could not do that.

The actual current story which happens to start in Vegas where Carrie and Wes wake up married, that part I enjoyed. I tend to like books in the present and to be honest the past scenes with Carrie did not make me love her. She essentially is a one night stand type of girl and to some degree she targets Wes. But she does want a relationship, she just wants a one night stand.

However, Wes well he is a fantastic character. I beyond loved him in the present and in the past. He totally made this book as he is hot, sexy and well he pulls out all the stops to win Carrie for FOREVER.

Did I love this story? No. It was a good read but the authors style of zipping in the past and then to the present is not what I enjoy in books. However she does a great job of telling the story and she created a character to love with Wes.

Would I read another book of hers? Summer Heat sounded interesting and I actually liked the two characters of Roman and June where in this book I did not love Carrie. I definitely think that you should absolutely at least read that story before reading this story.
5.0 out of 5 stars I definitely recommend this book June 29 2017

I am so glad this was the first book I have ever read from Alexis Anne, even though it is the 6th book in the series everything was explained almost making it a standalone. Before I became a book blogger I NEVER and I do mean NEVER read books out of order or a random book out of a series, but after reading the blurb I had to have this book ASAP.
Carrie whatever you do, do not call her Carrie Anne is a smart and feisty baseball team orthopedic surgeon. Along with that brain of her she has a sense of humor and knows what she wants in life. So when she wakes up after a drunken night in Vegas after he best friends wedding, she did not expect to find herself married as well. Yes waking up married and not remembering a single thing is hard enough, but realizing who she is accidentally married too makes it a whole lot worse.
Wes, great body, kitty loving, smooth talking Wes is your typical baseball player - on and off the field. He knows his way with a baseball and definitely knows his way around women. Or at least that's how he's portrayed. See Wes actually believes in love, the one and he just so happens to think he found it... in Carrie. Wes may or may not have known what was going on while they were drunkingly tying the knot in Vegas.
After finishing this book I begged for more pages and more chapters. I also wish there was more time so I can go back and read the first five books in this series. With how this book was written and everyone was described I just know the rest of the books will be just as amazing.
I absolutely loved the banter between these two and the fiery passion even when they don't realize it. With me not reading the rest of the series I was afraid I was going to be confused or lost, and even though I was in the first few chapters there were many flash backs to explain everything I might have missed.
If you couldn't tell I definitely recommend this book.
