HASH(0xa1b9ae34) out of 5 stars Wonderful! Aug. 24 2001
By Margaret G. - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback
I loved both Tanner and Charly! And George the owl, of course. What a lovely romance between two lonely people. And heartwarming to see Charly come to see that she is a beautiful, desirable woman. I'm so tired of wimpy women who become totally helpless in the face of the man's seductions. I got this book in a group of other Greene books I bought at on-line auction. I can't wait to read the others!

A woman's discovery that she is worthy of love even if she isn't beautiful.....a man's realization that his dangerous work doesn't have to preclude love. I'll buy any book with this author's name on the cover.

Before I dive into another Jennifer Greene book (that's how much I loved this book) I need to review this one. Can't believe there are so few reviews posted!
LOVED this book from the very beginning which hooked me in like so few books do. The writing was amazing, well-crafted, and richly told the story of two lonely and stubborn people living extremely solitary and yet successful lives. Brought together to save a wounded and beautiful owl, I enjoyed reading about their efforts to restore George to health while falling in love. By using alternating third person perspectives, Greene invites you into the thoughts and feelings of both the H and h. Each has reasons to hold back from a relationship but at the same time can't resist the pull to one another. It's not merely a case of instant lust although admittedly they feel a spark when they meet; it's also a much deeper, multi-layered interaction between these two as they figure out what makes one another tick.
What I really enjoyed was how the H and h are both really people the reader can instantly like and respect and they feel the same way about each other. They both have built interesting careers which are integral to the storyline, as well as the setting of the rural US-Canada border.
This book refreshed this reader's palate after too many feisty, impossibly gorgeous h's who don't seem to have any interests or responsibilities and their alpha H's who call them "babe". Charly and Tanner stand out as being real, intelligent, and sympathetic people. And Tanner, who wouldn't love to find Tanner in their barn?
HASH(0xa1b9af60) out of 5 stars excellent read Sept. 26 2011

this is jennifer greene at her best, she draws the reader into a world where the woman is strong and has no need for a man, but keeps her female side secret, but the hunter finds out about her vernable side and it is charming and a book you won't want to put down, it is one of my very favorites, if you don't read jennifer greene you should.

A wonderful read! I have read it many times. I love Tanner; he was so hot. I love how he treated and loved Charlie. Jennifer used the word sweet several times. That's what I feel about this book; sweet, sensual, and sexy. A short but complete story. I highly recommend Night of the Hunter!
