NIKON COOLPIX S7000 16.1 Digital Camera with 3.0-Inch TFT LCD, Black

From the Manufacturer

With a compact, lightweight design, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G provides the high reproduction capability and picture quality for which Nikkor lenses are renowned at an affordable price. The ring type SWM offers quiet AF operation. Although all lens groups shift during focusing, the front element and filter mount do not rotate and the barrel length does not change, which is useful when using filter mounted SB-R200 Wireless Remote Speedlight units.

The AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G optical design allows a different look and feel to images taken with zoom lenses, and its dimensions are ideal for discrete snapshots and landscape shooting with a picture angle that approximates that of the human eye. With its rounded seven-blade diaphragm opening, out-of-focus elements appear more natural. When mounted on a DX-format SLR, the picture angle is the 35mm equivalent focal length of 50mm.

The AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G has two focus modes, M/A (manual override autofocus) and M (manual focus). The M/A mode enables instant manual switching during AF operation. The lens also features a rubber seal to minimize moisture ingression around the mount and can focus down to 0.3 meters (0.98 ft).

AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G Lens Highlights

  • Fast, f/1.8 prime lens is perfect for low-light conditions, travel, environmental portrait and general photography
  • Engineered for Nikon DX-format D-SLRS, the AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens renders a picture angle approximating the classic normal angle of view of a 50mm lens on a Nikon FXformat digital SLR or 35mm film camera
  • Aspherical lens element minimizes coma and other types of lens aberrations, further improving image integrity
  • Nikon Super Integrated Coating (SIC) enhances light transmission efficiency and offers color consistency and reduced flare
  • Exclusive Nikon Silent Wave Motor (SWM) enables fast, accurate and quiet autofocus
  • Close focusing to 1 foot for creative perspectives and versatility
  • Rounded 7-blade diaphragm opening makes out-of-focus elements appear more natural
  • Accepts 52mm filter attachments

I love this lens to death. It is my new go to lens, and has really broaden my horizon to how speed and aperture interact with each other harmoniously. It's let me go out more and shoot due to it's portability, and is awesome for the price.

MY ONLY GRIPE: No vr reduction so be careful when it comes to the shutter speed and iso. Knowing the lens will help reduce this, but I highly suggest being careful with your shot as it can be blurry pretty easily.

Absolutely LOVE this lens. It performs really well and quick under low light, and captures beautiful portrait photography. I use this on my D5500, and I spent days researching and reading professional photographer blogs. Nearly all of the pros recommend this as one of the best "bang for your buck" lens, and is a good alternative to the nikkor af-s 50mm f1.4g fx lens that costs twice as much. I especially recommend this lens if you are just starting to learn and mainly takes photos of people (portrait photography). The bokeh quality is obviously slightly better on the f1.4g, but this lens isn't far off in performance. Definitely recommend this for those who are on a budget, using a dx nikon camera, and don't mind moving around / getting close to people and objects to get their shots. However, If you take landscape photos more often, i suggest getting a non prime lens as this one performs just a bit better than "good" and won't capture the breadth and width that you probably hope for.

Not only the lens but the price at which Amazon is selling it at. This price is $30 cheaper than my favourite bricks and mortar camera store. The lens comes with a lens hood and carrying bag which hold my 50mm lens perfectly. It is all but silent in focusing and the sharpness and colour rendering of it for the price is amazing. It equates to a 50mm lens in the full sensor world so what you see with your eye is how this lens sees.

I am not a fan of telescopic lenses, due to the compromises you make in speed for the different focal lengths, and prefer primes.

This should have been my first lens when I bought my 7100 but better late than never. An excellent purchase.

A great lens.

I was unsure of purchasing it until I read the amazing reviews and was assured on how great it is. I haven't taken it off my camera yet. Beautiful photos, great for some evening shots as well. Portraits always look perfecto. Another reviewer mentioned that the rear lens cap fell off after he received it in the mail, mine was loose as well! Just be careful opening it!

Landscapes, to portraits and little night time shooting, it covers them all wonderfully.

I've attached one of my photos for example.

Beautiful images and excellent focal lenght - I like that I choose this one instead of 50mm (too tele). Big difference with my kit lens. Cristal clear picture from cetener to the very edges (reviewers are saying a little bit soft - but still perfect for me). Beatufully separates object from environment. Requires some practice with 1.8 diaphragm to get proper focus, but this is just optical physics learn how to use 1.8 - this is sometimes challenging, (f 1.4 is deffinetely not for amateur like me for now)

A lovely, fast lens that will really force you to sharpen up on your skills. Here's what I've learned:

I have a D5100 (small-frame) so a 35mm lens is effectively 50mm, a 50mm lens is effectively 80mm, and so on. I was on the fence between 35mm and 50mm, I got the 35mm, and for a small-frame that's ABSOLUTELY what you want.

I wanted a prime lens primarily for shooting in the dark, which this does wonderfully.

BUT:

When it's dark, you want to open up the aperture as much as possible, to let all those photons in, to get a fast shutter speed, so you don't need flash or a tripod, so you're going to shoot at f/1.8. That gives a really narrow depth-of-field (and awesome bokeh). Narrow DoF means your focus has to be just right, which is fine, since this lens has the AF motor built-in. The big problem as far as I'm concerned is this: for the camera to autofocus properly, it has to shine an obnoxiously bright light (remember we're shooting low-light here) that is really annoying for the subject, if the subkect happens to be people and/or animals. This is personal taste here, but I like to take pictures without influencing what I'm taking a picture of.

So I end up on manual focus when it's dark and I'm shooting people, which is fine because it forces me to be a better photographer, and in the digital age there's no harm in taking nine out-of-focus pictures before getting it right.

If you think you're going to slap this lens on your camera and magically get night vision, you're only half right. You'll still need to work for it, but the good news is the results are amazing.

Good lens. Arrived well packaged. Arrived fast. My D5200 with this lens makes for incredible low light shooting.

Whoever said these were refurbished or reconditioned was wrong. Mine was brand new.
