As an enthusiastic beginner to the D7000 and digital photography as a whole, I found this book very informative. It goes through the basics of photography but tailored to the D7000 camera. The author gets his message across in an enjoyable readable style whereas others tend to bog you down in complicated techno blurb. I particularly liked the odd photo he put in with explanations around what's happening in the photo & what settings were used.
I'd definately recommend this book to anyone upgrading from a starter DSL to the D7000. However, for a seasoned pro, this book will be a bit basic, but for an enthusiastic amateur I thought it was great, particularly adding little assignments at the end of each chapter to get you experimenting with your new camera.
For my level of photography, I highly recommend it.

I was expecting more from this book. It's a good basic book, but if you're looking for something a little more thorough, look elsewhere. I will have to purchase another book that goes more indepth for what I need.

Who in their right minds would read a 200+ page manual from start to beginning? It's boring, and you don't get any real-life applications of how to use certain features on your camera. In the past, I've always just dabbled with playing with my camera - usually in auto mode. But, this book has given me more confidence to explore the professional modes, and all the other buttons that I had no idea how to use. It more of a basic book (i.e., not meant for professional photographers), and it really takes you into understanding your DSLR on a whole new level. I also love that it is specific to the D7000. What a great purchase!!!

This was a fabulous book. I would recommend it to everyone who has a Nikon D7000. The book is filled with great tips and advice for getting the best pictures you can from your camera. There are lots of picture examples and camera setting discussions. I especially like the tips in every chapter that highlight something specific the camera can do. There are tips for taking portraits, landscapes, action pics and so much more. As a new owner of a D7000 this book was perfect to get me familiar with the camera. I can honestly say my photography skills have improved two-fold by reading this book.

Great book, that goes through the basic and advanced partmof your d7000, highly recommend. It uses a of copy&paste from earlier versions, so if you have another version, you might not need it. But then you miss all the new stuff :)
