This is an excellent camera for photographing birds. The extra long zoom allows me to photograph birds at a much greater distance than my other cameras. By staying farther back, the birds are more relaxed. I have a DSLR with a 500 mm telephoto, but no longer use it, as this zoom lens has a much greater length. Even at the 2000 mm setting, I get very sharp photos, as long as the light is good. Also, I get excellent videos at the longest zoom settings. A tripod is necessary at the longer zoom settings to eliminate camera movement. I am now using this camera almost exclusively for everything and my nature photos are better than ever.
I highly recommend this camera for any nature photographer and others who need long zoom lenses.
