I would highly recommend it to anyone trying to gain deeper understanding of salvation. It will also inspire in living a right life.
I highly recommend this book, and I also highly recommend getting CAUGHT UP INTO HEAVEN by Marietta Davis, to go with this one! Read them both, they are both awesome!
This is a remarkable TRUE STORY about a young 25 yr. old woman, who in the summer of 1848, fell into a deep sleep or trance for nine days! Before she got sick, she had been deeply concerned about life after death, and she had some big doubts about God! She wasn't even sure that he even existed!
This is a very detailed account of what happened to her during those nine days, she saw HEAVEN, and HELL. She also gives a detailed account on what happens to BABIES, in heaven. I believe that there are different levels or sections, that are in heaven and hell, and that Marietta was shown some of them. You would not believe all the wonderful things she saw in heaven, and the sorrows she saw in hell.
After Marietta came out of the coma, she tolded of all the things she saw and that, she now knew God existed, and so Marietta wrote down, what all she saw!
She was now a firm believer of GOD, and another remarkable thing she talked about was when she was going to die! AFTER THIS AWESOME EXPERIENCE, MARIETTA WAS ABLE TO PREDICT HER OWN DEATH, and seven months later she died, exactly how and when, she predicted that she would die!
I believe Marietta Davis really saw heaven and hell, because it was so detailed!
This is a true story because Marietta, would have no reason to lie or to deceive people, especially when she knew that she was going to die seven months later!
The writing in this book has been adapted for the modern reader but it still retains the "voice" of the original author. The descriptions of heaven and hell are extremely detailed and precise. The author's emotions also seem honest and real. The descriptions of heaven seem to mainly focus on the places where babies go when they die prematurely. The descriptions of hell focus mainly on places where there are illusions. Like water is actually molten lead and fruit from trees burn you if you try to taste them. It seems like the author only visited one part of hell and for a very brief time.
What is somewhat suspect about this book is the use of bible verses to the extent that the book feels more like a sermon than a revelation of experience. While I have no objection to biblical verses they may lead some to conclude that the book was written more to save the soul than to document an out-of-body experience.
How did the author remember detailed conversations with guides in heaven? She must have had quite a memory because the conversations are highly detailed. Unlike other accounts, Mariette Davis actually meets God. Most experiences tell of meeting Jesus or a being of light so most don't seem sure they have met God and God seems to be in a part of heaven where you are not allowed to go unless you are really dead. So that was different.
In other books I've read there was never any indication as to why God would send people to hell. In this book there are some very good reasons that actually made sense. Mariette Davis experiences such emotional pain at times in heaven that she wishes to be far away and in hell. Yet when in hell she wishes she had more time on earth to make her life right so she could prepare to be in heaven. It seems her unbelief in Jesus as the Savior is where the conflict originates.
