This is the 1st book in the Rule Series by Ashley Erin, it is also the first book I have read of hers and I was pleasantly surprised.
The storyline is one that has been done before, but Ashley has put her own original stamp on this trope and has written a beautiful story.
A New Adult Romance based in a college in Canada, Andie (h) and Lucas (H) are dorm neighbours who are very much aware of each other, even though they are both not interested in relationships.
Lucas was the standout character in this book for me. He has is own issues within himself and his family, but Andie continues to draw him in.
He knows she is hiding something from her past, and instead of walking away, he stands with her and beside her - especially after she reveals her painful secrets.
At times this was a hard book to read. Not because of any faults within the book itself, but of the subject matter - reading about a father who cannot, and more shockingly, won't love his daughter.
What I enjoyed most about the story is you watch Andie slowly place her trust in Lucas, opening herself up to loving someone and trusting in that love not only being reciprocated, but being worthy of it.
Ashley's writing has a great flow, with many great characters that add to the storyline. Looking forward to the next book in the series The No Bad Boy Rule.

3.0 out of 5 stars Familiar story line with nothing new to offer June 9 2015

This book was just ok. It had all the predictable elements of the collegiate, angsty romance...girl meets guy; girl has some trauma/history that makes her want to stay away from guy;guy proves too difficult to resist; inevitable misunderstandings due to miscommunication or total lack of communication; jealous wanna be girlfriend of guy convinces h that she was right to stay away from guy in the first place; meant to be climactic incident and then all is wrapped up in a very clean HEA.

The characters are ok. It is easy to see why they are the way they are. Our H doesn't date or sleep around at all...he's a stand up guy, who devotes a lot of time to his sister and her son (she got pregnant at 16 and now has a 4 year old son). Her situation is what made him stop sleeping around. He also had a break up with is first girlfriend/love which adds to his hesitancy to jump into anything romantic. Our h is just starting out a new University to get away from her father (this is not a spoiler, you learn this very early on, and he is pretty much the foundation upon which her no a$$hole rule was built). She also has one bad experience with an ex boyfriend. All in all, its clear why they are a bit reluctant, but the story line doesn't really grab you.

There are funny elements, with the initial meeting really being the funniest part in the book. The whole brother enrolling in her college and her friend just deciding to transfer to her school bothered me for some reason. Perhaps it just seemed to easy, but then again, wherever this i set, maybe it is that easy. Even the eventual scene with her father (again, not a spoiler, you know its coming) is just anticlimactic. It was just an ok read. I skimmed a bit throughout. The "steamy" scenes are PG at best. I probably won't read anything else in the series.

I am going to admit, the title of this book drew me in and then I read the synopsis and knew I had to read it.

This book centers around Lucas and Andie who are now neighbors in their college apartment building. Their first run in didn't go so well, and Andie has this rule.. it's pretty simple really "No A$$holes", and the impression she has of Lucas when she sees him is he definitely is one to avoid because of her rule.

Andie has lived a very hard life, and doesn't let many people in, and Lucas is a reformed bad boy, due to some things that happened in his sisters life. Both of them have pasts that have made them who they are now, but for some reason Lucas can't stop thinking about Andie, and Andie is intrigued by Lucas.

These two definitely have a difficult relationship at first. Lucas just trying to get Andie to open up is like pulling teeth, and he knows something had to have happened to make her the way she is now, but she won't open up about it. He slowly starts to pull back the layers that is Andie with the help of her big brother Jax.

Watching these two open up and navigate a relationship that neither of them thought they would have, nor did they really think they wanted is beautiful. I really enjoyed watching Andie open up and come out of her shell, and meet friends and start to trust. Lucas, he was amazing with Andie and understanding her and treating her with nothing but respect. He definitely is NOT an a$$hole!

This book is a really great read, and I was definitely pulled into the story and unable to put it down. I can't wait for more books in this series and hope that we get Jax's story! This book had me laughing, crying, and biting my nails towards the end. Make sure to pick this one up and fall in love with Lucas and Andie today!
5.0 out of 5 stars I love a book that includes real life struggles and romance May 19 2015

I love a book that includes real life struggles and romance. I'm a sucker for characters that have struggled and Ashley did a great job of creating that. This story is a perfect balance of life lessons, laughs and heartache. The struggles Andie has endured are not easy and I admire her strength to continue fighting and getting stronger. Trust is a very difficult thing and Andie has had her share of disappointments that get in the way of her opening up. I could relate to that, and I love reading a book that transports me to another world yet keeps it real.
Of course, I need to admire Lucas' patience and understanding. Talk about loyalty. The chemistry and build up between these two was perfect and true to their story. I loved reading how their relationship bloomed and seeing the characters transform and grow separately and together.
The secondary characters were a great addition to this novel and added depth. Definitely worth one-clicking! Grab a drink of choice and get lost in this romance.

*I received this book as an ARC for an honest review..*

I cannot tell you how much i LOVED LOVED LOVED this book/series!! This story is filled with humor, drama, lots of great sex and story that I wanted to keep going and going.
I loved Lucas, how kind and generous and patient he was with Andie. Andie has a very dark past and she has pushed ALL men away due to the fact, in her mind, they are all A$$holes. She has a rule never to date another guy again, until Lucas comes into her life and slowly breaks down her walls. The chemistry between these two is real and amazing. Yes at times I wanted to smack Andie, but that's what made the story good.
And the secondary characters== Loved them as well and hope to see their stories in the future!
A well written story that I could have kept reading and not get bored..
