Product Description

Leah Spenser owns a decrepit car, a budget that won't stretch, and the moxie to make a decent life. She lives in the present until one sun-drenched day, a past she has outrun imperils her future and threatens all she holds dear. When her boss announces that someone is embezzling company funds, history begins to repeat itself. Detective Leo Garvey has Leah in his sights as the number one suspect and more. Leah knows she must be careful, that nothing good could come from his attraction. Leo doesn't see it her way. Guilty, he loses. Innocent, he wins. Yet convincing Leah the past can only be escaped by embracing something better seems to fall on deaf ears. While Leo works to uncover the truth, Leah determines it will never surface.

About the Author

Jackie Weger has been writing novels for thirty years. She enjoys destination travel--going to new and strange places, meeting the natives, learning their customs, their foods, how they survive good times and bad. She lived part of one winter with trappers in the Louisiana Swamps, volunteered at a sister of Mercy Mission in Panama--and had one of the most interesting conversations in her life with an old man and his dog as they sat on a bench waiting for a train in the Village of Versailles. Jackie loves books, coffee, tea, cats, gossip and all things Southern.

HASH(0x9ea3bbb8) out of 5 stars Another great story from Jackie Weger! Keep them coming, and I'll keep on reading them. March 10 2015

The first book I read by this author was "No Perfect Secret" that I got from BookBub as a freebie. I was so impressed that I ended up buying three more of her books. Every one of those have been really great stories, and this one is no exception.

Leah and her two children have been on the run from both hyer husband, and a past that wants nothing more than to forget. Where she had been wrongly accused of embezzlement at a insurance company. She was innocent of course, and even took a lie detector test to prove it. But as luck would have it, she failed the test. Her husband and everyone else thought she was guilty, and rather than go to jail, she opted to pay back the funds. After that her husband divorces her and then threatens to take her children away, so she packs up her kids and hits the road. Now here she is a few years later, and she's being accused of the same things all over again. And just like before...she is innocent, but this time she decides to stay and fight. Will she be charged with the same crime, again, or will she be able to prove her innocence?

Detective Leo Garvey is hired to look into the matter. I thought he was a little off beat in the beginning, and I wasn't sure I liked him at all. However, as the story goes on and you get to know him more, he turns out to be a really great guy.

I also loved little Nelson and Sally. Sally is so innocent, probably because she is so young, and really has no idea of happened in the past, But Nelson did, and he's grown up faster than any child should ever have to. At seven years old, he's always looking for odd jobs so he can help his mother with the bills, not that she will take his mother, because she has no intentions of ever doing that.

There are some really funny parts in this story, and a slow growing romance going on. There's also a little bit of mystery going, as they search for the real culprit responsible for taking the money. The ending just might shock and surprise you. And even though I suspected some of it, there was a few things I would have never seen coming.

I would highly recommend any of Jackie Weger's books. I have read five of them so far, and I loved them all!

HASH(0x9eac5f30) out of 5 stars Another great book Dec 10 2014

Another great story written by this author. Leah and her children started a new life after she was accused of embezzling funds from her prior employer. Starting over is hard enough, but she finds history repeating itself after she is again accused at her new company. Detective Leo Garvey seems to believe her, or is he trying to trap her? Can she race against the clock to prove her innocence?

HASH(0x9eaab924) out of 5 stars Some fancy detective work involved! Dec 28 2014

I first discovered Jackie as an author with "No Perfect Secret" and totally enjoyed it. So when she released "No perfect destiny" I bought it right off the bat. Just took me a while to read and review it with my TBR list being what it is. Anyhow needless to say I absolutely loved it. The story deals with Leah who has had her previous life snatched away from her thanks to an incorrect accusation leveled against her by her own Mother- in-law and ex husband. Now she faces another charge at her new work place for misappropriating funds.
Enter Detective Leo Garvey the investigating officer who first decides she is the criminal, and then discovers that its just not possible. he also falls in love with her, protesting all the way considering that she was a complication and he liked his life fine just the way it was. In order to clear her name he needs to get some fast work done as the owner of the company wants to sell it off.
Does Leah get to clear her name and keep the job? or will she have to relocate once again? Find out when you read this book.

HASH(0x9f3d1ab0) out of 5 stars Very good contemporary romance with intrigue. Jan. 31 2015

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book came as part of a set: Hearts & Kisses due out Feb 2015. This is a very good contemporary romance. Our main characters are Leah who is the divorced mother of two children and works as a book keeper. Leo is a detective who is single an now investigating embezzlement going on in the department Leah works in. She's running from her past where she went through this before and her ex-husband didn't stand with her but was more worried about his family name. Leo feels a strong attraction to Leah when they first meet. The biggest problem is that Leah is the lead suspect. To find out what happens and who committed the crime you'll have to read the book. I look forward to reading more of Ms Weger's books.

HASH(0x9f3cf030) out of 5 stars good love story, great ending... Feb. 28 2015

I loved this story. The heroine is a young mother of 2. She is accused of a crime she did not commit. Her husband, his family, etc. all think she is guilty. She didn't do it. Her husband divorces her, they sell their home and make restitution to the "victim", and she flees with her two children before they are taken away from her. for 2 years she moves from town to town trying to keep one step ahead of her ex's family and his lawyers.

She winds up in the Galveston area and is working for a small company as their bookkeeper. She is starting to feel a little safe when her boss calls her in and accuses her of embezzling funds. She knows she didn't do it but being innocent doesn't always mean you won't be charged. The detective assigned to her case is the hero of the story. He is a little off beat and I wasn't sure I liked him. However, as the story goes on and you get to know him, he is great. There are some really funny parts a little mystery going as they search for the person responsible for taking the money. The ending will shock and surprise you. I never saw it coming. It was a very enjoyable read, I definitely recommend it!!
