With its distinctive repeating border detail, as well as floral crown and foot, the Egg & Dart Plate in antique brass resonates grand style and is the ideal choice for larger doors. And, nothing says "vintage" like the traditional floral illustration of the White/Rose Porcelain Knob. All Nostalgic Warehouse knobs are mounted on a solid (not plated) forged brass base for durability and beauty.

A mortise lock is a lock that requires a pocket – the mortise – to be cut into the door. The lock is installed into the pocket in the edge of the door. If your door is not already prepared for a mortise lock, you (or a skilled professional) will have to use a mortise saw to cut into the door so the lock fits properly.
Our mortise locks fit 2-1/4 inches Backset and include a skeleton key locking mechanism.
How to Measure for Backset?
When installing a tubular latch with passage or privacy function, it's very important that you know what your backset measurement is - either 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches. (see graphic).
The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to center of the 2-1/8 inches (54 millimeter) diameter bore hole.
In the U.S., there are two common backsets for residential door locks, 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches.
Dummy sets have no latch and are surface mounted, therefore a backset measurement is not needed.
Nostalgic Warehouse Interior Mortise locks are only offered in 2-1/4 inches backset. Our mortise locks are recommended for interior use only.
