The recipe is use this is does have a tiny bit of fizz to it. I know some people don't care for that, but I love it, as do 4 other family members. My brother and his wife like to add a few drops of peppermint oil to theirs. Here's the way I make our toothpaste:
3-5 parts coconut oil
5 parts cal-mag powder
3 parts xylitol powder
2 parts baking soda
I've also like to add in a little bit of sesame oil. Not only is it good for oral health but it helps prevent the toothpaste from getting overly hard. I switched to this homemade paste about 2 years ago. I have no plans of ever going back to commercial toothpaste.
The aftertaste in a bit sour, but it's nothing too troubling. Citrate forms of Calcium and Magnesium are highly bio-available, especially in the case of acid reduction therapy.
