Completely flat unbelievable characters. Writing was juvenile, definitely not written by someone who's ever been in a relationship. Not worth the read.

HASH(0xa5867894) out of 5 stars SHALLOW!!! Deeply disappointing. May 6 2014

I RARELY write reviews, but this book actually made me sick to my stomach. The beginning of the book is less than believable. After that, the Heroine sleeps around for the rest of the book & then the author barely leaves time to squeeze in a monogamous relationship in the last ten or so pages. Pretty sure the author knows NOTHING about being abused. If you're going to write about something so delicate, then you should research it & be a little more compassionate. If you're truly abused in a relationship, the last thing you look for in the next one is 'rough handling' by your partner. Personally, I find this disrespectful to those THAT HAVE climbed out of their own personal hell. And then to turn the Heroine into a slut on top of it, sleeping with what, six different men when she rolls into town?? She's used, abused,& is self depreciating by having sex with multiple men, just so she can piss off the one man she wants to be with??? Disappointing & Disrespectful. I cannot IMAGINE the intelligence level of those that gave this book 4 & 5 star reviews. How sad. As for book 2, Oh... Hell... No...; you couldn't PAY ME to read about the even sluttier twin sister. Shameful...

I picked this book to read because I thought it seemed like a story line I could really get into. Abusive ex, and the new guy that she doesn't want to get involved with, so they keep it strictly sex. What could go wrong, right? Well, I can't say that I didn't have an idea on how it would end. But, the story was definitely not what I was expecting. Especially toward the second half when the drama really starts to unfold.
I could tell from the beginning that there was a secret that Derrick was keeping from Grayson (love this name, BTW). I never really did put my finger on it, although I thought I had. And in the final chapters of the book, where to emotions run high, I was a little on edge.
My one complaint was Grayson when she would get jealous about how, even though she isn't being monogamous with Derrick, he was seemingly not monogamous back. She was kind of whiny, but I remember being that age, and having those feeling. They just pour out of you and their is no reigning them in.
I'm sure my thoughts are all over the place with this review, but I really did like it, and I would definitely recommend it. I loved the resolution at the end, and how it didn't come lightly for either person.
A definite read.

HASH(0xa5867aec) out of 5 stars Amazing Book. Must Read June 21 2013

I was so excited to be lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this book.
I couldn't wait to get started on it. I read it in one sitting and let me tell you this book was amazing.

Grayson is a girl that at the beginning is stuck in a bad relationship. She decides that it is time to get away and heads to her moms house. Once she gets there her twin sister Luna talks her into going out with her to bars and tries to get Grayson to have a one night stand.

"Then he moved his hands into prayer positions at his chest, looked to the ceiling and whispered, "Thank you."

Derrick is Army and in the same unit as Grayson's brother. These two originally met at a coffee shop before Grayson got to her moms house. She runs into him again at a BBQ at her brothers house. She gets warned to stay away from him but sometimes its hard to stay away from a man as hot and sexy as Derrick.. YUMMY.. Derrick ends up getting deployed. Things happen that you wont hear from me. Haha. So you will have to read this book to find out.

I cant go into to much details with these two without giving the book away and I really hate spoiling a book for someone. So basically all I can say is this book was amazing. I laughed and even shed a few tears. I love the characters in this book. They all fit perfectly into the story. This is A.J. Bennett's first book and she did an outstanding job with it. You should definitely grab this one when it comes out.

HASH(0xa5867de0) out of 5 stars what in the world? April 11 2014

I finished this book in one night, simply because I was going through a bout of insomnia. After reading it I'm left bewildered. This book is so bad, in so many different levels, I don't even know where to begin. Shoddy editing, below average writing, lack of a plot and very bad characterization are the major flaws.
I mean at one point the narration switched from being third person to a first person. And then there was a confusion between then and than. The story went from being one of an abuse victim to ... l'm not entirely sure what. The author clearly hasn't researched abuse victims and the psychological impact sustained abuse has on the victim. And then there are the characters. I liked Grayson for being able to break her shackles. I didn't mind her first one night stand either. But then I quickly stopped caring about her selfish, petty whining. The guy is recovering from a near death incident and you wanna talk about YOUR hurt feelings? Well screw you! Dereck came across as a shady character l couldn't trust. I don't see the relationship lasting.

In short stay away from this. Even the sex scenes are boring.

HASH(0xa5867e1c) out of 5 stars HOW ABOUT NEVER AGAIN March 29 2014

I got this book when it was free, if I had paid to read this I would have been really mad.
This was awful! The HEA went from being with only one person for three years to her needing a score card to keep up with every guy she had sex with. She didn't care who she did it with, didn't care if they used protection. After having sex with one guy, he told her he was married and its like oh well?! She even thought about keeping in touch with him! UGH! Whenever the hero would make her mad or blow her off, It's like Who can I screw now. The hero wasn't much better. I don't know how they could ever trust one another to have a real relationship. I need to read something else quick, this has definitely left a bad imprint in my brain. Sorry but this book was not for me. I'm deleting it so I wont ever have to look at the cover again.
