They sell Mandoline at all price, but since I'm a serious home cook, I look at product that will do the job easily and last. OXO is a good brand as far as know for having a few kitchen utensils of that brand. After reading review and look at how it is built I decide to buy one to replace my 24 years I want an other look but as much quality as my old Bron Coucke Mandoline witch was still in very good shape and give it to my nephew for his new apartment. The OXO for my need is perfect, easier to clean compare to my old one, and do the job perfectly. The main difference is the holder witch is not built the same way it is better built with the Bron Coucke, but I don't use it that much anyway, as the setting they are faster with the OXO not that it take long with my old one. Finally I found that for the price of the OXO compare to the Bron Coucke it is worth it and should last you many years.

I bought one of these from another retailer (in person) and returned it.

I wanted to make waffle-weave potato chips, but the crinkle cut blade is really shallow so they ended up being paper thin.
I tried to slice apples, but the blade couldn't cut through the skin
I tried to julienne an onion (so that it would naturally fall apart the other direction and be diced) and it wouldn't go through the entire onion - it would just jam half way through.

The safety handle also holds a LOT of the item back, so when I did the potato chips, using relatively small potatoes, it left about 1/3 of the potato unsliced - so in the 3 potatoes I did, it wasted a full potato's worth.

I ended up buying a different one for 1/5th the price that has a V shaped blade and it at least can cut through things.

Well constructed but does not have a true mandoline type blade as both blades are serated. This is fine for general slicing but does not work for soft vegetables. The julienne feature is also limited by this. Otherwise a good and rugged kitchen tool.

Works great but hand guard slightly to wide to glide smoothly. Easy to clean and is a perfect for use on a serving tray.

I found this mandolin to be a piece of junk. The blades are not sharp enough to even slice potatoes for french fries.
The hand-protector isn't stationary and slides all over the place. I ended up getting getting my hand julienned. Needless to say, I returned it.
