ONCE UPON A SUMMER
Sure, it's unusual to have an eighteen-year-old mother when you're twelve. But when you're an orphan and she's your aunt--and the only mother you've ever known--well, it works out just fine.
That's why I got so riled up when I heard Grandpa and Uncle Charlie talkin' about findin' a fella for Aunt Lou!
You see, somethin' had to be done. I couldn't just sit back and watch our family get broken up. But with Grandpa and Uncle Charlie workin' so hard to marry off Aunt Lou, I really had my job cut out for me. Then that preacher came along, and things got really complicated... --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

As Josh tells of the many happenings on a farm back in the days when neighbours all worked together to help with harvesting the crops, it brought back memories of my days as a child living on the farm in a large family and a small community where farm life and church life was our main existence.
The only section of this book that I found somewhat tedious was in the description of the threshing machine and the threshing days as it got somewhat repetitive.
The characters in the story from Josh, Auntie Lou, Uncle Charlie, Grandpa and Gramps, the new pastor and the neighbours were all well described and delightful individuals and the story was very well told. Thanks for a great read.
