HASH(0xa2130324) out of 5 stars play it again, punk Dec 5 2000
By Fred J. Solinger - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
in 1999, thomas bangalter, one half of daft punk, under the guise of stardust, released the single "music sounds better with you," which ended up being one of the year's biggest dance hits. bangalter was reportedly offered 3 million dollars to produce a stardust album, but declined. now, bangalter along with guy fabulous*, dormant since the release of 1997's homework, have released "one more time" featuring new jersey garage singer/producer romanthony. what one would call the "daft punk" sound -- chunky, mechanic, heavy bottom -- was sampled liberally by mirwais on madonna's chart-topping "music," so, for this single at least, the guys steer clear of it: in many ways, "one more time" is what one would imagine the never-recorded stardust album would sound like.
like "music sounds better...," "one more time" has a very old-school disco feel with its four-on-the-floor beat and horn samples, but whereas the stardust hit struck me as very rigid and repetitive -- more experiment than song -- "one more time" is looser and more fun. paradoxically, it's also the better crafted song: the build-up at the end is great, even though it takes its sweet time.
i don't quite yet know what the upcoming daft punk album will sound like: if it'll be closer to stardust or if it'll be more akin to homework. regardless, in these heady times, daft punk -- a less crass fatboy slim and a more soulful moby -- are putting the fun in funk. what more could you ask for in your dance music?
*fabulous isn't his real last name. it's quite long and has a hyphen in it, but "fabulous" works just as well, i think.

HASH(0xa29d1714) out of 5 stars Retro Meets Synth Jan. 9 2001
By JCB - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Catchy, catchy, catchy. Daft Punk has done it again, producing a lot out of very little, reminiscent of their uber-hit "Around the World" off of the album HOMEWORK. This time around, it's the phrase "one more time...music got me feeling so free...we're going to celebrate...celebrate and dance so free..." Mixed with an ear-catching retro beat of the disco era, not to mention the distorted twang and synthesizer induced vocals reminiscent of early new wave groups of the 80s, "One More Time" proves to appeal on many levels. It's a smart song. It's architecturaly rich, yet minimal. Nostalgic, yet new and modern. Daft Punk are innovators. What's next?
HASH(0xa258a9b4) out of 5 stars 2000 was a great year for dance music Jan. 7 2015

2000 was a great year for dance music. I just had to listen to the song One More Time before I made my order. These are great dance mixes. 12"mix is my favorite track, I bought the digital single off itunes but I want a physical copy to keep. Cd singles as good as this one are collector items. I collect rare cds. I can't wait for it to arrive!

HASH(0xa270bf48) out of 5 stars The best track on the new cd Feb. 23 2001
By kern larson - Published on Amazon.com

Don't expect homework 2 (however much you want it)........
1. one more time- best track, unlike the rest of the album
2.areodynamic- sound like les rythmes digitales, with guitar solo
3.digital love- more vocoder, full on pop song, sounds like air with a 909.
4. harder, better, faster, stronger- Kinda funky short track, one of the better ones. Sounds like a disco kraftwerk 'numbers'. Vocoder vocals, filter.
5. crescendolls- filter disco meets les rythmes digitales. With that 80's sounding 808 kick (in a bad way).
6. nightvision- under two minutes. Atmosphere 'air' track.
7. superheroes- Finally a firm 4/4 kick around 136 bpm! Has a sample that sounds like barry manalow repeating 'come through the air. Some bad synth sounds, but all in all one of the better tracks. no vocoder!
8. high life- 124 bpm, cut up filter disco, but only 3:19 long. Good, not great.
9. Something about us/96 bpm- the vocoder returns! Laid back, pillow talk groove pop song. compare to air.
10. voyager- around 120 bpm. another under 4 minute filter disco song with big synth sweeps. Pretty, but lacking bite.
11. veridis quo- a 5:44, 108 bpm workout in big synth sweeps and a back beat, once again pretty but no bite.
12. short circuit- les rythmes digitales meets chaka khan in 1981, total filler track.
13. face to face- around 120 bpm. good cut up filter disco, a couple of vocal snippets and then a nice vocal from todd edwards, a strong track for this album.
14. too long- coming in at 10:00 minutes long and 132 bpm. It's a long builder, growing into a good solid track, with another romanthony vocal (no vocoder).
all in all not awful, but not homework. They seem to be going off in to the air/stardust area and it does grow on you after few listens. Just keep your anticipation in check because the things that made homework so great are nowhere to be heard on this album.
HASH(0xa2cf8de0) out of 5 stars My Favorite Daft Punk Song of ALL TIME!! Feb. 17 2013
By Mitchell Dulac - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
This was my first Daft Punk single I have purchased on CD, and let me tell you, it is certainly my favorite! I don't care how many times I listen to this song! I love it! I was expecting the single to come in one of those European thin CD single cases, but it came in one of those regular bulky CD album cases. The CD did not have a single scratch or finger print on it when I received it! The case, however, has quite a bit of wear on it, but its expected when you pay $0.01 for it.
