About the Author

Eiichiro Oda debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997 as a comic creator and artist with ONE PIECE. Oda is one of the most popular comic artists in Japan today, started out by earning the Hop Step Award (a monthly award given by Jump for amateur artists) as well as the esteemed Tezuka Award. His art style is reminiscent of Akira Toriyama, Sergio Aragones, and the movie Yellow Submarine.

HASH(0x9c6b06a8) out of 5 stars Payback time May 18 2006
By Simon - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
One Piece volume 10 drops readers into the battle at Arlong Park. As the formula goes, Luffy (the strongest character) is quickly incapacitated, leaving his friends to battle Arlong's lieutenants while the villagers try to rescue him. This could have been tedious, but fortunately Oda keeps things going at a good pace. Zoro, Usopp and Sanji all start and finish their fights in this volume, and some hilarious character quirks plus a surprise comeback by Usopp keeps things memorable.

Viz is still doing a good job with these volumes. Aside from the annoyance of Sanji's "near-swearing," nothing seems edited or out of place. What helps Viz's case considerably is that they retained the french names of Sanji's attacks, rather than go with the cheesy 4Kids insertions.

10 volumes down, 30 more to go before we catch up with Japan. And the series is far from over. Shake a leg Viz!

HASH(0x9c6b06fc) out of 5 stars The Greatest Manga Series EVER!!! Dec 27 2006
By Hassan O. Tate - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
One Piece is the BEST manga series ever made. It is filled with so much action, amazing characters, and deep emotions that are so well strung together that it can only be called flawless. With a totally original art style and story, Eiichiro Oda has created the best characters and world ever since the original Dragonball. One Piece is the best, and while many may have you believe that other series are better, such as Naruto, they don't come close to One Piece's sheer brilliance. If you haven't begun reading One Piece, start now, it is phenomonal and should not be missed. Read and find out why One Piece is the #1 manga in Japan!

HASH(0x9c6b0b34) out of 5 stars Enter the Grand Line Jan. 8 2007
By Simon - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Volume 12 of One Piece sees the Straw Hat crew escape from Smoker and Buggy in Roguetown and enter the Grand Line. But sailing up Reverse Mountain is just the start of the wonders and dangers they will experience.

Finally! From this point on the stakes are higher, and the characters become increasingly bizzare. This volume includes story elements that 4Kids cut with their botched edits, including a sympathetic whale named Laboon and some vital information concerning navigation through the Grand Line. Also in this volume is the introduction to Whisky Peak, a nice tease to what awaits in volume 13. Give it a read, and buckle up: this is indeed when the legend begins.

HASH(0x9c6b0ef4) out of 5 stars awesome!! Aug. 31 2012
By cyborgluffy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Anyone who has a soul should read one piece, unlike the other of the big 3 it never declines in quality, always enjoyable and fun. Oda-sensei's drawings and characters just ooze his love of manga. He is a genius. And the best part is, no fullbringers-shiver-shiver.

SO INTENSE!!!
If you are a manga lover between the age of 7 and14 you will love this. It has humor in it, suspense, thrills, and its so fun to read. The characters are great to read about and the story line is cool, especially when Luffy gets thrown into water and his crew ang the vilage have to fight Arlongs pirates and save him at the same time.

I LOVED it... great read!
