Product Description

Product Description

A special edition of their 2001 live compilation album includes an bonus live disc recorded at a Universal Appeal concert down under.

One Wild Night? Well, that's not strictly true, as this live album was recorded at Bon Jovi concerts spanning three decades. But why be pedantic when the result is a live album that effectively doubles as a greatest-hits collection? Bon Jovi's songs are tailor-made for stadiums and arenas, and, from classic fist-in-the-air rockers ("Livin' on a Prayer," "Bad Medicine," "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Runaway") to lighters-in-the-air numbers ("Keep the Faith," "Wanted Dead or Alive," "Something to Believe In"), the choices are suitably larger than life. The career-reviving single "It's My Life" sounds right at home, as do great covers of Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World" (recorded, appropriately enough, in Johannesburg in 1995) and the Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays" (performed with Sir Bob Geldof). --Robert Burrow

On the surface Bon Jovi's "One Wild Night" seems like a great concept. For starters, it's a long awaited Bon Jovi album. The concept seems interesting - it isn't really a live album from one night's worth of performance, but rather a compilation of 16 years of Bon Jovi's live performances (The title "One Wild Night" actually refers to a new studio track that is included with the CD). Although there are some good points, from an overall CD standpoint the concept doesn't work very well and this album is a disappointment.
By having a compilation of live songs as opposed to a live concert, the flow is disrupted. A complete concert flow would have added a better touch and give the listener an opportunity to hear the CD as if it were concert as well as get a better Bon Jovi experience. As for the songs themselves, one would expect a very high energy level with the performances. After all - this is Bon Jovi and the album is "One Wild Night". I never get the impression of a "party" on stage at any point on this collection. Songs such as "Livin on a Prayer", "You Give Love a Bad Name", and "Bad Medicine" are just extremely weak when comparing them to the studio versions. It just seemed like the "A" game was missing when these songs were performed. I would consider Bon Jovi's peak period in 1986-1990 (i.e. the "Slippery When Wet" and "New Jersey" albums), yet there are no live performances from this period. That is a shame, because we probably would have gotten a glimpse of Bon Jovi during their heyday. Instead we get the many of the performances from 1995 and 2000 - doesn't make much sense. The songs don't seem ordered very well either.

This is the only official live album ever made by the best live album in the world although live songs have appeared on most singles. It is pretty good and pretty much contains the same songs as Crossroad their greatest hits album did. The good thing about this album is they didn't feel a need to put any of the These Days or Crush songs here except the good ones they actually released as singles.
Unlike a lot of live albums Bon Jovi have given samples from different concerts all over the world. My only criticism is that a lot of cities missed out when most which appear have a few songs to their name. Surely we could have heard from other Australian crowds such as Sydney, Perth etc, Other European and North American cities as well as anywhere else they've played. Surely they've played in Eastern Europe for example.
I also didn't like how they included the exact same version of I Don't Like Mondays which appears on the bonus disc with the These Days album release in 1995 which is the only reason I bought the These Days Album. Surely they could have included something the true fans don't already have.
The live songs are pretty good although again I would say not the greatest live versions I've heard of the songs represented. I own better live versions of the same songs which appear on singles and other bonus discs. If they're going for something different from previous releases then again why is the same version of I Don't like Mondays on here.
I would also have liked to see One Wild Night Live rather than just a repeat of the single version. It seems this album isn't really made for the fans who already have a lot of what appears.
Bon Jovi are by far the greatest live band in the world so they should have done a lot better job. If you've never been to a Bon Jovi concert then this album is a must.

When I saw this at the music store I knew I had to buy it. Like all Bon Jovi fans, I've been waiting to see a Bon Jovi live album, and this one definitely delivers! I'll admit to you that I wasn't sure about this one at first. But don't let that fool you, because almost every song is a winner. However, I have a few complaints. First, I think it should have been a two disc set because a lot of great songs were omitted. As well, as another reviewer stated, the song "I Don't Like Mondays" featuring Bob Geldof should have been left off. A good song, but really doesn't make sense on a Bon Jovi live album. Despite these and other flaws I won't get into, I still enjoy ONE WILD NIGHT LIVE and am glad it is a part of my collection. NOTE to JON BON JOVI & COMPANY: consider putting together a two-disc edition of this album, which in addition to the songs already on the album, include some of the songs that are featured on "THE CRUSH TOUR" DVD as well as other recordings from the 1980's! You already have a guaranteed sale of at least one copy! SO, LET'S ROCK & ROLL!

okay i'll cut the crap i'm a die hard bj fan so this album was such an exitment for me when i recieved the album i wonderd what classics will be on this? i was saddended to see no,always, bed of roses, blaze of glory, lay your hands on me,in these arms born to be my baby, hey god,i'll be there for you,and many more but instead i was faced with, bob geldof with the rendition of ''i don't like mondays'''!why. This was on a previous album so was rockin in the free world,to madden me more bad medicine was cut at the end! why!? bon jovi are the best live act around and they produce this!an album that left me queesy because it let us down it let bj down. If you buy this and think this is what bj sound like live than your wrong this album was cheap and tatty and that's hard for me to say but i still stuck on the old classic's like bad name and keep the faith. But a word of warning you are not buying a bj live experience your buying a studio album which is produced and produced again.I blame the record company!
